Email from fco.gov.uk - not straightforward application

Post by mthila » Sat Sep 12, 2015 1:36 pm

Dear all,

I applied for a student visa from Sri Lanka via VFS to Chennai British Deputy High Commission and after 12 days of submitting documents, I received the following email. Has anybody received the same email and could anybody tell me what happened after receiving this email please?
Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your UK visa application which has been received and is under consideration. We aim to process non settlement applications within 15 working days (unless you have opted for the Priority Visa service), and Settlement applications within 60 working days.
Unfortunately, the processing of your application has not been straightforward and we have been unable to make a decision on your application within our customer service targets. We will continue to progress your application and make a decision as soon as possible.
We will write to you again if there is any change to this expected date.
Please do not attend the visa application centre until you have been asked to do so. This is an automated message - do not respond to this email address as incoming mail is not answered. UK Visas and Immigration contact details can be found at http://www.gov.uk/contact-ukvi-outside-uk

Yours sincerely,

UK Visas and Immigration
BDHC Chennai
This email does not mention my name or my GWF Reference number. Instead, on the email subject, there is a 7 digit long number different from GWF Reference all together! Could anybody explain this to me please?

Thank you very much for any help in advance!!!

It is a standard email. Many people receive the same email.

Dear Char,

Thank you for your reply. Do you have an explanation to what that mysterious number is in the subject of the email which is not my GWF number?

Also, I wander whether this impose any warning for the application to be refused ?

Thank you very much for your time again!!

No idea about the number. No, it does not mean the visa will refused, it means your application will take a bit longer than normal. Maybe that need to do some extra checks and verification, etc.
