Information needed:switching or Extension after tier4 expiry

Hi Group,

My student visa expired in Aug 2014 and I applied for FLR(O) before the expiry date of student visa. It got refused and I have appealed in Nov 2014 and waiting for the result. I have got a sponsor now to apply under TIER 2( General) but I am not sure about whether I need to consider as switching or extension from my previous visa.

u r switching from tier 4 to tier 2.
