Tier 4 visa Extension Error NHS Extension

Hi
My brother came to UK on tier 4 Student (university) in Sep 2014. He failed in Project and asked to resubmit his project on Jan 19 his Visa was due to Expire on Jan 30 2016.

While completing application form he was getting an Error with NHS surcharge. Error message was 'Invalid course end date' .Course end date was given as 03-Feb-2106

University was mentioning that he need to go back to india since his submission date was within his valid Visa date But they have issued a valid CAS until 03 Feb 2016.

Please suggest what we can do now. Thanks
