My situation is quite complex, so any help is appreciated!
Here is my current situation:
- Australian
- Currently on Tier 2 (General) visa
- Would like to switch to Tier 5 Youth Mobility visa for more flexibility in job opportunities (I can travel back to Australia and apply from there)
> How long does it take to cancel my Tier 2 visa? I have read it can take up to 3 months; will i be denied a Tier 5 visa if my Tier 2 is still active? As soon as you leave your employment with the Tier 2 Sponsor, they are obliged to inform HO and your visa will be cancelled.

My husband:
- Australian
- 1 year left on Tier 5 YMS
> Would it be possible for him to become a dependent on my Tier 5 visa once his visa expires? Tier 5 YMS does not permit dependents as far as I am aware. They have to apply separately on their own.
We're not planning to stay long term; we'd ideally like the option to stay for 6 months after my husband's visa expiry.
Many thanks!
