Youth Mobility Scheme Tier 5 to Tier 1 Visa

Post by shaheen.a » Tue Jan 31, 2012 10:52 pm

Currently I am on Youth Mobility Scheme Tier 1 visa. What is the procedure or options to change to Tier 1 visa while I am in UK. One of the Visa agency offered me to assist with changing the YMS Tier 5 Visa to Tier 1. Any advice...

Which category of Tier 1?

I don't think that it's possible to switch (applying for leave to remain) from within the UK from Tier 5 to Tier 1 (Part 6A - Points-based system).

To Tier 1 - General. Of course I have to apply through point based system but my question is that is it possible to change after 2 year after YMS Visa is expired

thanks for the information. One of the visa company told me that they will assist me to change the visa after YMS visa is expired. Do you think should I go with that

Tie 1 General has been closed to new applicants since at least April 2010.

You have to return to your home country to reapply for a different category under the YMS.

The UKBA closed Tier 1 (General) at the end of 2010 to applicants outside of the UK. This makes it impossible to apply unless they change the rules before your visa expires (very unlikely under the tory government).
