Enquiry on suitable visa category

With a degree and 9 years experience in Information Security, I am seeking to emigrate to the US with family to work. i have read about H-1b and 2b non-immigrant visa which require potential employer involvement. Please where do I start?
Are there other more suitable visa categories? Perhaps without employer involvement? Which method is commonly adopted by members?
