Expired Visa

Post by Grotz » Fri Aug 16, 2013 12:32 pm

I have been in the US for a while now and I just realized that my visa will be expiring soon and I'm afraid that by the time I am able to request an extention and get approved my visa will most likely be expired.
I just read this site:
http://www.visaplace.com/usa-immigratio ... n-the-usa/
It says that you can get barred from the US for 3 years if you stay is over 180 past the expiry of you visa. I think in my case it would only be 7 or 8 days expired. It didn't mention anything about shorter overstays.
Can I get penalized for that? Is it still possible to still get an extention?

Thank you
