Schengen visa to Menorca

Post by tier2013 » Sun Sep 10, 2023 9:50 pm

I have a holiday booked to Menorca departing on the 15th of September. However due to unforeseen reasons I’m having to cancel it and stay back in England.

Can I use the Schengen visa issued by soain to take another holiday to Italy in October?
Or, does the first port of entry HAVE to be menorca?

Schengen expires in dec 2023

Legally you can travel to any Schengen countries with a Schengen visa.

Some countries may not be happy if you use visa issued by them to enter another country (since you applied through them and not through whoever you're going to), but I heard neither Spain nor Italy are particularly fussy about it. Also, plans change.

Have people been turned away from entry into the country due to this reason?

I really need a holiday! :(

And the Schengen cost me close to £700 to get as a fast track through BLS

As I said - you legally is able do so (if you have insurance/etc). They just might look at bit more into your documents when you apply next time.

I'd say you're fine doing that.

Thank you.
This is sufficiently reassuring for me to book that holiday to Italy.

Having paid so much for the schengen I intend to get max mileage out of it and travel a lot before December.

Is this the case strictly for Italy? Or can I travel to Greece? Or any other Schengen visa country?

Legally, you can go to any Schengen visa country. However, some countries in Schengen area (eg Germany/the Netherlands/Austria) are known to be more strict if you're going there as a first trip and it's not their visa - in their mind you're trying to circumvent their country's checks that way. But most Schengen states don't really care.
