Do you need your ILR BRP to apply for naturalisation?

I am applying for ILR soon and plan to apply for naturalisation as the spouse of a BC immediately after. I need to have submitted my naturalisation application within 2 weeks of my ILR, as I have to travel abroad for work and any more days outside of the UK and I will have surpassed the 90 day limit. I therefore want to know if I have to wait for my ILR BRP to arrive prior to submitting my naturalisation application via NCS. I know it is true in theory (re FAQ) that you can apply for ILR & naturalisation on the same day as the spouse of a BC, but in practice does the Home Office require you to have your ILR BRP at the time you make your naturalisation application?

I see on pg 17 (Section 5) of form AN it says the following:
Evidence of freedom from immigration time restrictions required for all applications...The Home Office letter by which you were given permission to remain permanently in the UK.

I find it hard to believe they wouldn't also require the BRP, however. Does anyone have first-hand experience or can point to more references in the guidance/immigration law?

Any advice, as always, would be appreciated!

No. In fact there are still some of us who have never, nor will we ever, get a BRP (such as myself).

True, I believe your ILR letter (HO Ref no) should suffice.

So did you successfully become naturalised using your HO ILR approval letter?

Yes you need the BRP, or yes you can just apply with the HO approval letter?

HO approval letter should suffice. The ref on the letter is linked to the BRP, when the letter is issued, the BRP generation is triggered.

Are you saying that they require a BRP for those who have one, and don't require it if you don't have one? That's a strangely inconsistent rules even for the UKBA. In any, neither I nor my wife are required to give any BRP for naturalization.
