faxing myself or asking employer to send a fax?

Post by Novice » Thu Sep 09, 2004 6:20 pm

Dear All,

I applied for HSMP in August (in-country applicant). I included a job offer letter together with my application, however I think it would be a good idea to send them a fax after 6 weeks as well (I didn't have any feedback from them saying that my case is in the `urgent` queue).

I could ask my future employer to send a fax to home office himself stating that he confirms the offer and asks to give my case urgent consideration, as the business suffers badly because he is unable to employ me asap (which in fact is not far from the truth).

Are there any reasons not to do this? Obviously it's not quite in the rules which say that I myself am supposed to fax an offer letter. However the offer letter is already there, and it doesn't say the need is urgent. Would be a bit silly if the employer addressed me a letter asking Home Office to make my case urgent, wouldn't it?

Thanks,

Novice

You shud fax them as unless you have not specified your case to be treated as urgent they will not consider you request. You or your employer can send fax directly with your ref. no to HO in order to take your case in priority que instead of ordinary que.

Afzal

ND, the job offer was submitted together with the application. It was a letter which outlined title of the position, responsibilities and salary. The fax which my future employer sent last week stated that he confirms the offer and asks Home Office to treat my application as a matter of urgency. Haven't heard anything from Home OFfice yet, so I am thinking of writing them an email.

"Dear Sir,

Your fax was received and your case is now in the urgent folder."

!!!!!

The reply came in 10 min after I emailed them.

Maybe Home Office is getting better?

just 1 page, ND. I don't think an employer can give you a contract before you have the right to work ...

I don't think home office tells anywhere what an offer letter should look like. The one my employer gave contained job title, responsibilities and salary. It said that the offer is subject to me obtaining HSMP status. It also said that duration of the contract will be negotiated at the time of me obtaining the status, subject to financial situation of the company.l

Currently they take 2-3 weeks to revert back with decision.
