Can you please confirm if you oci has been received in London or not yet. Mine was also dispatched on 04 of Aug but the status has not been updated for received in London as of yet.

VFS people are excellent in taking money from you but when it comes to providing service they are bunch of useless people!

I submitted my OCI application on 09/Aug/16 and still the online status says "file not found". I received an sms and email yesterday confirming that my application was dispatched to the Consulate.

Also, at the VFS office in Bradford I was asked to sign another acknowledgement because I didn't use their DX secure service and took Special Delivery envelope for return of original docs (as per instructions on the website). The declaration said that if my documents are lost I cannot question the consulate!!! So basically, they are saying they may lose my docs and would not be held responsible. For Dx secure they charge £20-30 extra and I refused to take it saying I have already paid for special delivery and I trust royal mail.
I think for passport return I might use Dx secure even if it costs more.

Reading through timelines it would seem that sometimes its taking almost 3 months for OCI to be processed. I don't understand why it takes so long. I understand if the case is complex it may take more time but normally it shouldn't take more than a couple of weeks to process an OCI.

Your online status will appear once high commission have scanned your application on there system

Murthy_giri, you case seems complex and its best you contact the British Embassy in India to consult the process. You are right that 3 months grace period is allowed to travel on Indian passport so I don't know what happens after that. It may be that you have to apply for indian visa first to buy some more time or they may charge a penalty. But take official consultation than guidance from forums.

I have a flight booked for the 22 Aug. Not very confident i will get it back in time. They have my passport and PIO. Apparently its still with the high commission. They can't escalate nor give me a contact at the high commission.

Anyone had any luck getting in touch with the high commission? No one picks up their website phone number and it gets cut after 15 mins.

Your OCI was in London on 21 of Jun and you only submitted passport on 5th Aug....
Anyway I reckon you will receive your docs early next week. May be on 17/18 Aug

I have hard time understanding why some people have difficulty working with VFS or Indian High commission.
They have replied to all my email queries within 24 yrs and were very prompt with right advice and help.
They even accepted a missing document by email. It saved me a trip to their office. So the quality of their service level has been above par.

Yes rnshan, i have been travelling a lot recently so was unable to submit my passport. Hopefully it comes through next week like you say. Do you have the email id's you used to contact them. It would be very helpful.

I uploaded just scans of originals
The website gives sizes of pdf files. Use lowest resolution when you scan.
The website gives maxm outside dimensions for photo and signature.
