Are you sure? Thats really strange then? As i have applied for both naturalisation and passport together , as this being my first adult passport through spouse visa route, and i applied through nationality checking services
And i got letter to submit my biometrics within 15 days?

The letter for biometrics is for the naturalisation application. All applicants have to do biometrics for naturalisation applications. If you do the two applications separately, you will still get a biometric letter for naturalisation but you won't get one for passport application.

How did you confirm that your application was received on the 7/1/2016. I sent my application through Post office check and send. I filled the form for tracking application but havent heard anything back from them.

I just submitted the details of my application in "If you filled in a paper form" section in the page;

I got a reply within a day of submission.

I had my interview on Friday 15 Jan 2016 and waiting for SMS / DX courier.

Hi Henry, Please use the right link depending on online or paper form: https://www.gov.uk/track-passport-application

If you submit your details regarding paper application and you query in the notes, you will get a reply within a day usually.
You can also call the Advice line : 0300 222 0000. They are generally helpful, though they may ask you to spell your name, address, etc. a number of times. Have patience with them!

This question may appear strange, but did you by any chance enter your mobile number in the mobile number field in the passport application form that you submitted? If you did, then that may explain the reason why you received two biometric enrolment letters. This is what the NCS advisor told me when I applied for both naturalisation and passport together last year. They gave me specific instructions to enter the mobile number under section 8 (additional info) instead of the mobile number field in the passport application form, and explained that this was to avoid receiving two biometric letters. I suspect this may have to do with the procedure the HO/HMPO have setup for processing pilot scheme AN and passport applications.

EDIT: Having re-read your post again (I may have misunderstood your original question), if it is just the single biometric letter that you received then, that's what is expected and required to process your AN application. You shouldn't however receive another biometric letter in addition this. My explanation above is in case you meant you received a second letter.

The process is very quick unlike Home Office, Document received by IPS on Friday and Monday they posted them back. Just for those who are booking an Interview appointment without letter, if for some reason the Name Spellings or Address printed on it is wrong then you can be in trouble. So I waited for the letter instead of booking interview without letter. Good Luck to Everyone.

My mother is a British citizen, I was born (and currently live) in France.
I received my original documents back in the mail from the UK Passport Office this morning.
The status on the online application says 'dispatched'. In the 'What do the status results mean?' section, it says dispatched means they are sending you your passport. Does this mean I won't have to attend an interview ?

If you applied through pilot scheme (citizenship & passport app together) then you don't need to attend interview. Just wait you will get it soon
