If you are in UK, you can probably apply for registration using MN1.
No financial requirement.

Just your ILR copy, UK birth certificate for your son and your marriage certificate are needed.

No need.
However, you may need two referees knowing your kid, who should sign the MN1 form.
Read the MN1 guide.
Even you can get a referee from a commonwealth country sign the application.

Can he travel with NM1
No as the registration certificate is not a travel document. He will either need a British passport, a visa or a Certificate of Entitlement stamped in his foreign passport to be able to enter the UK.

can he apply British passport while he is in India
Yes you can, but it is still processed in the UK and the waiting time from India is long.

Or you can register him as British on MN1 under section 1(3) and once you have the registration certificate you can apply in India for a Certificate of Entitlement at BHC.

Or, you can not do any of the above and apply for a child settlement visa on VAF4A.

I am not sure about a visitor visa, perhaps one of the other mods or gurus can advise.

Yes, but only after you have registered him as British on MN1.

The whole process can still take some time though.

MN1 Registration - between 2 weeks and 6 months - timescales vary on how busy HO is etc so difficult to say exactly how long.

Passport - can take up to 16 weeks as it is processed in the UK

Certificate of Entitlement - not sure of the timescales from India, but expect it will take a few weeks.

As i know, once if any one travels to UK on visitor visa can not be transformed there.
Best way is apply for settlement visa.

For a immigration visas yes. For an entitlement (child born in the UK) British Citizen application on MN1 it should not be an issue. Getting the visitor visa would be a bit of a challenge though given that both parents have ILR and are settled.

There's also 304-309.

However, direct MN1 etc., may be better.

He cannot apply for a CoE-RoA, if he already has a British passport.
