HSMP extension ( under Tier 1)

All,
Need some help here.

I am in UK on HSMP old rules (granted in Sep 06) and my EC was granted for 2 years.
I applied for extension under Tier 1 as I had all requirements to qualify under tier 1 (mentioned about JR as well in the covering letter).

Today I got my passport back with Visa stamped. But the extension had been given only for 2 years ( and not 3 as per the guidelines). However they consider it (Tier 1 or old HSMP rule) my extension should be 3 years and not 2.

Can this be an oversight? or has anyone else experienced this. I am planning to call HO on Monday but would like to get some thoughts about it.

it shoul dbe 3 years and not 2 . u shud speak to HO. BTW why did u apply so sooon?

Need to travel back to native land for about a month around Sep - Oct for a personal reason. I have mentioned these details in the covering letter.

Now wondering if I will get this resolved on time for my travel. Is there a possibility to go to home office and getting this resolved then and there?

The best thing to do is to contact HO and ask them why you were given 2 years in thefirst instance. Secondly if there is a need to hange it to 3 years, you may request to have it done in person because of your upcoming trip.

Most likely a mistake by UKBA .... but could this mean ILR in 4 years for old HSMPians??? Kidding!!

As already suggested, best to check with UKBA at the earliest.

Guys Checked with HO. they wanted me to send back the passports for re-consideration. Said it will take about 1-2 weeks or so to get it back. (Again just for re-consideration did not commit to anything)

But when I asked about whether I will still remain on the pre Nov HSMP scheme, they did not commit to anything. They asked me to refer the letter sent with the passport for details on the policies which are applicable with the extension.

in that letter there is a statement saying : "This extension of your Leave to remain completely replaces your previous leave including any condition that were attached to that leave."

Bit worried about it. Does this mean I will not consider as per old HSMP policies in any future conflicts?

Any idea on how to handle this ?
