financial requirements

Post by lost2020 » Tue Feb 11, 2020 11:28 am

Hello, I was exempt from the financial requirements till approx. summer of last year, since then I took employment (fulltime) the role I have I only get paid once I finish the project I am on (I am an artist), this being the only project I have worked on since summer of last year, I took this work as I didn’t want to be bogged down by being self-employed and the complexity of doing paperwork, however knowing I have to meet the 18600 a year financial requirement, I took this project as it pays me the required figure (just over) to meet the financial requirement. I have a contract of employment and have no other work, I have lived off money I had and that of my husband.

For ILR, I will apply for it based on my own finances, however, I can imagine this may raise some questions to be asked. Has anyone come across my situation before and can advise?

I have to ask, as I was exempt from the financial requirements till summer of last year (June), will UKVI take into account my salary after this exemption ended and add the time together, or will they discount the exemption and look for the full 12 months prior to the ILR application, for me to fulfil the 18600 requirement?
