To prevent an unnecessary additional extension before qualifying for settlement, I believe you should initially enter the UK within 28 days (4 weeks) of the visa's effective date.

hi,
thank u for the reply.
after entering within 4 weeks and making all the registration process in UK, is it possible to come back to the home country, settle with the current job in the home country (4-5 months) and go again back to UK within 6 months of the tier 1 visa date?
regards

Is it so..
I don't think since when I had inquired in June abt the time frame
from BHC, I had got reply like.

- There is no time frame for coming to UK
-Also, for extension it is up to us to apply under then existing rules.

But i don't know rules changed from then.
If that is so,please confirm because I myself have spent 2 months outside UK(staying in India).

Vinny,
I guess what you have quoted for is true when someone applied for Permanent Settlement. I am not sure if the same is true for initial travel of Tier 1 Visa.

Folks,

Can someone please confirm whether we need to travel to UK within 3 or 6 months of getting Tier 1 Visa, or can the person travel anytime in the whole 3 year period of Tier 1 validity?

I am asking because in case of UK Work Permit (UK) Visa which is valid for 2 years and is usually filed by an employer/company for the person, the Visa expires if not used within 6 months! I am sure of this for Work Permit visa as it has happened with my fellow colleagues, but am not sure if this is applicable for Tier 1 Visa also.

Has anyone confirmed this by calling BHC in India?

Thanks

The above link says that there is no time limit to enter the UK. You can enter anytime till the expiry date.

Thanks everyone for clarifying this doubt. I was desperately looking for the required time frame after getting Tier 1 visa.
