Adult care eligibility under supplementary hours for nursery practitioner visa holder

Post by hcc90210 » Sat Sep 13, 2025 1:05 pm

Posting for a friend and would appreciate any advice please:
She came to the UK in 2023 on Work visa (Nursery practitioner category)and is currently working full time in a nursery that sponsors her job.

She would like to work part time during her free hours, as Supplementary income for 10 hours per week as an Adult carer. Is this allowed please without affecting her application for ILR?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

All detailed on the UKVI website with links etc.

https://www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa/second-job

She can work up to 20 hours in a job and SOC that is the same as she is being sponsored for. The only exception is if the second job is on the shortage occupation list.

Hi
Thanks very much for your advice. One follow up question please:
As fas as she is aware, Adult care has been taken out of the Shortage occupation list earlier this year. But at the time she got the visa initially in 2023, adult care was still on the shortage list. Someone had told her that it would be OK as the conditions at the time her visa was granted should apply to her even now - just wanted to confirm if this is correct.

She had been offered a role in adult caring for 10 hours a week and is very keen to take this on if at all possible without affecting her visa. Any advice much appreciated.
