Date of first entry and absences from UK

Hello all,

I would appreciate some guidance with the following.

I will be applying for my naturalisation in the UK soon and received my ILR last November.

I have some questions about some of the requirements:

- To prove continuous residence in the UK, does passport copy with entry stamps suffice or would I need additional proof?
The reason I ask is because I have seen some sources state that the entry stamps only count as proof of residence for the month of stamping.

- I have had to recently renew my Indian passport and will be submitting scanned colour copies of both documents in full.
Will there be any issue because I’m two submitting two passports which cover my period of residence in the UK?

- Where there are no entry stamps for trips, would a copy of the flight tickets confirming departure and return dates for these trips suffice?

- Regarding the referee requirement to be a qualified professional, would a former colleague who is an engineer but not chartered meet this requirement?
He’s got a Bachelors from the UK and has worked for 6+ years here.

- In the form AN guidance, I read that I would need to submit all tax and NI paid records since I began employment.
I was able to get this information for every month going back to FY 2020-21 but couldn’t get it for the FY 2019-20 which is when I started working.
Is this a strict requirement and if it is, can someone advise how I can get this data?
FYI I don’t work with employer I was with back in FY 2019-20.

This is complete nonsense.

This has been commented here on the forum literally every single day. You only need a copy of the stamped pages on the passport covering the qualifying period (three or five years). It doesn't matter some stamps are missing, you also will have the chance to manually input absences from the UK. Flight tickets are not required at all. If you have more than one passport covering the period then submit a scanned copy of all those.

The passport copies are the only evidence of continuous residence or absence you need. An engineer is ok as a professional referee. You don't need any tax, NI or employment records for this application.

An engineer is ok as a professional referee.

I think only chartered engineers/engineers who are members of a professional regulating body can act as referees, not just anybody whose job title or degree includes the word "engineer".

A doctor or solicitor practicing in the UK would be fine as referees as they are required to be members of the GMC or the SRA respectively. So if you know a practicing doctor or solicitor as a friend, you can request them to be your referee.

4. Two referee declarations for X

To this end, I plan to submit the following documents to support my application:

1. Colour copies of all pages of both my current Indian passport and expired Indian passport (used to enter the UK)

2. Flight tickets for all international trips undertaken whilst on my Tier 2/Skilled worker visas and ILR

3. Front/Back images of all Tier 2/Skilled worker BRPs held

4. eVisa for ILR

5. UK university degree certificate, academic transcript and HEAR

6. Life in the UK test result

7. Latest employer letter and last 3 months payslip

8. NI and Tax record (monthly amounts paid) from 2020 till present

Please let me know if this is an exhaustive list and if any documents are missed out.

Hi,

I’m in the process of applying for my UK naturalisation.

I originally came to the UK as a student in 2016.
Since 2019, I’ve held either a Tier 2 or Skilled worker visa which made me eligible for my ILR (received last year).

Given the fact that I’ve held multiple categories of visas (I.e., student and work) there are three questions in my application which I am uncertain on how to answer and would appreciate some guidance on.

Q1. When did you first arrive in the UK?
- Do I give the date I first arrived as a student or the date I received my first Tier 2 visa on (which is what I declared on my ILR)?

Q2. Details of my trips outside the UK:
- Again, do I declare all trips I’ve ever taken outside the UK since the time I was a student or do I only include the trips since I started working (I.e., receipt of first Tier 2 visa until present day)?

Q3. Previous immigration applications:
- Do I declare my student visa application along with work visa applications or do I only declare work visa applications in this section?

So for date of first arrival and visas held I consider my student visa (I.e, point of first entry) but for holidays I only consider the last 5 years (I.e., ILR period).
