Query Regarding bank statements

Post by hema177 » Wed Aug 04, 2010 4:29 pm

Hi,

I have my appointment with VFS tomorrow morning. I have all the documents ready but had some doubt re the bank statements.

I took the statements from the bank which they provided on a dot-matrix printer - it has the bank logo on all pages and my name and account number only on the first page. I had these stamped and signed by the bank.

I also got printouts of email statements and had them stamped by the bank - please note these were not signed as the official refused to sign them. Also, the tier 1 guidelines state in Para 141.ii that

"If the applicant wishes to submit electronic bank statements from an online account he/ she should also provide a supporting letter from the bank on company headed paper confirming that the documents are authentic. Alternatively an electronic bank statement bearing the official stamp of the bank issuing the statements will be accepted. This stamp must appear on every page of the statement."

Additionally para 215.i states:

"If the applicant wishes to submit electronic bank statements from an online account these must contain all of the details listed above. In addition, the applicant will need to provide either:
• a supporting letter from his/her bank, on company headed paper, confirming the authenticity of the statements; or
• an electronic bank statement bearing the official stamp of the bank in question will be accepted. This stamp should appear on every page of the statement."

It does not say that the e-statement has to be signed. I have looked everywhere in the document but could not find where it says that the statement needs a sign as well. Can anyone point it out to me please?

I have been going through the forums and have come across some posts which said that the dot-matrix printouts were rejected by the BHC for some reason or the other. I have also read that some applications were rejected because the statements were not signed.

My question is - which of these should I use for submission? Or should I submit them both? Can anyone advise?

I am really confused and very tense...

Thanks in advance for your help,

Hema

I think the above paragraphs you mentioned are in regards to electronic statements of an online account.

• a supporting letter from his/her bank, on company headed paper, confirming the authenticity of the statements; or
• an electronic bank statement bearing the official stamp of the bank in question will be accepted. This stamp should appear on every page of the statement."

Personal bank statements showing the ii) payments made to the applicant: Bank statements provided must be on official bank stationery, and must show each of the payments that the applicant is claiming. If the applicant wishes to submit electronic bank statements from an online account he/ she should also provide a supporting letter from the bank on company headed paper confirming that the documents are authentic. Alternatively an electronic bank statement bearing the official stamp of the bank issuing the statements will be accepted. This stamp must appear on every page of the statement. For the purposes of this guidance an online bank account is one that operates solely over the internet and sends their bank statements to their customers electronically (for example over the internet or via email).
