Query in filling Name & name clarification

Dear All,

My name in education documents shows as S.NAGARAJ where 'S' is initial of my father SHANMUGAM. In All my other documents like Passport, Employer certificate, Bank documents it is shown as NAGARAJ SHANMUGAM , my fahter name kept as Surname.

How I should use the name in filling the form and
Will this be an issue in tier1 General Visa? If so what would be the procedure to inform the embassy? Affidavit from Notary lawyer would be fine?

I would fill your first name as your name and surname as family or father's name.

You can explain that your education papers present the name with family name first then your name.

Is this common in your country? I know from vietnamese back ground, family name (surname) is first then middle name then first name but you should put it the correct way round for your visa.

If you could get your education institution to write a letter to explain this as well - it would be good.

I am from India (southern side)

In southern part of India we name with father name's first letter in starting and our name followed, say S.NAGARAJ for my Educational records

but in Northern part of India and other countries first comes our Name followed by family/father's name. so my name is written as NAGARAJ SHANMUGAM

Currently I am working in Northern part of India hence this confusion.

any further advice who already faced similar confusion would be appreciated.
