FORGOT to bring my visa!!! (URGENT)

I have a new passport but the student visa was still in the old one. I forgot to bring along the old passport with me.

Would it be possible that I go to heathrow without the visa (I dont need any visa for a trip to the UK), after receiving the old passport by courier, I go for a short trip and then re-enter the UK with both the old and new passport?

But where are you? Obviously not in the UK yet. So delay your travel until you have the required document.

If you turn up at Heathrow, the Immigration Officer is going to ask you "How long are you staying? What is the purpose of your visit? Do you have a return ticket? Is this your first trip to the UK?"

How are you going to answer? They might buy the truth, they might not. If you don't tell the truth, you could end up in a whole world of doo-doo.

I would say travelling and I really do have a return ticket for Xmas. If I am lucky enough that I pass through the immigration, does it mean everything would be fine?

Ambiguous query, IMHO.

Assuming you are in UK on a short "tourist" trip which doesn't require you to have a visa (by virtue of your nationality), you must exit and then re-enter UK (on Tier 4 student visa) for you to pursue your studies and be present in the UK with leave to enter as Tier 4 migrant.

Well, let me explain the situation

Since my old passport(with student visa) was expired, I applied for an new one(without student visa). I should have brought both passports with me when I come back to London. However when I enter the UK immigration, I found out I did not bring the old one, so I told the officer that I am a tourist. Luckily I passed it thro (I can enter UK without an travel visa). I planned to go for a short trip in a week or so and return to UK as a student

But then today I called to the immigration dept again, I was shocked that I am told my student visa will be cancelled once I entered UK without student visa(as a tourist). I am also told to go bk to my orignial place to apply for a new student visa. I am really unsure since my student visa expires in OCT 2011.

What should I do now!!! PLease advice!

It is not possible to hold more than one visa or entry clearance.

In essence, you lied to enter UK. The next time you try to enter UK as a student, the Immigration Officer may spot your last entry as a tourist / visitor and you may be denied under General grounds of refusal.

AIUI, you have been advised correctly by UKBA. Consider seeking professional legal advice.
