Switiching from Tier 2 (Main Applicant) to Tier 1 Dependent

Post by Swapnika » Thu Mar 24, 2011 11:13 am

Hi All,

I am on a Tier 1 (General) visa and my spouse is on a Tier 2 Visa. Can my spouse switch over from Tier 2 to Tier 1 (Dependent) from within UK or does he have to apply from his home country i.e. India.

Hi Sushdmehta

As per the like "http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/worki ... dantroute/", switching is allowed to a tier 1 dependent category from within UK if you are in the listed visa's and that list includes work permit holders (Tier 2)

I suggest that you read the information, on the page you refer to, carefully.

Hi

oops!! so that means if my husband had been on a Tier 2 dependent visa then he could have switched to a Tier 1 Dependent visa!!! But I was under the assumption that you cannot switch over from a dependent visa from one category to dependent visa of another category.

Thanks for pointing this out.

Exactly!

On the contrary - that is the only switch dependants are allowed to make.
