Alternative to Tier1

Post by gvm8 » Thu Oct 27, 2011 2:02 pm

Hi,
As Tier1 has been closed, what is the alternative for individuals who are seeking careers in UK, other than Tier2 which needs employer's visa sponsorship.
I would be very grateful if I get any information in this regard.
Thank you in advance !

Tier 1 is not closed. Tier 1 (General) is closed but there are other categories of Tier 1 that remain open and available.

Yes, Tier 1 General is what i guess i would fall under as an IT professional.
The others are enterpreuner, investor, post-study work, and exceptional talent.
First of all, is my assumption that i come under the General category correct? And so which would be my next alternative?

Thanks for your advice in advance!

You next alternative would be any of the other categories of Tier 1 and Tier 2. However, if there is nothing in those that matches your circumstances and you have no family connections, then you will have to resign yourself to not working in the UK.

Oh alright .. and thanks a lot for your information.
I guess my next best option would be Tier2 only. I am told that after 5 years resident in UK gives us the option to take UK citizenship. In that case, would it be possible to take up dual citizenship at that stage? Because i do not want to lose my original citizenship.

Thanks for your advice !!!

That would depend on your current citizenship and if it permits dual nationality.
