Hello Folks out here,

Great place, probably the best place online (and, free Very Happy) to get immigration advices. So I have been told.

Anyways,I have a share of question(s). So please help me..

1. My wife has received an offer to study her MSc from Imperial College,UoL starting September 2012.The course is registered as QCF level 7.

2. I am in UK since September 2009 and completed my MSc in September 2010.I am on PSW right now and that is going to end on January 2013.I am working in a job since April 2011 which is secure in other ways but my employer isn't willing to sponsor me a Tier 2 Visa right now.Crying or Very sad

So my question is, if I can convert to Tier 4 General dependent from within UK after my Wife receives her Tier 4 General student visa and comes to UK.Cause she'll be coming to UK in September 2012 and I still would have 4 months (till January 2013) of my visa to do the switch.

I would like to continue my full time job so please advice if I can do that after being converted to Tier 4 General student dependent.

Thanks a lot for reading the long situations and questions.I look forward to read your knowledge.

Cheers,
Andy

Is the course 12 months or more long? Or is she government sponsored?

You can't switch in country you would have apply for entry clearance that is assuming the answer to at least one of the above questions is yes. if not you would not be able t
come as her dependent.

Hi Greenie,

Thanks for the reply. The course is 12 months which means it is 1 year and she is self sponsored.

The thing is I am already in country (UK) when she'll be coming to UK in September 2012. My PSW runs out in January 2013 and I'd like to switch to Tier 4 General dependent before my PSW runs out.My wife has received her visa which entitles her to stay in UK from September 2012 to January 2014.

I just curious to know if I can make this switch in country (within UK) so that I continue to work my job (at an IT firm) without any disruptions.

Thanks a lot.Take care,

Cheers,
Andy

You cannot switch in country. You have to apply for entry clearance from your home country as para 319C h is not met.

I am surprised your wife has already received her visa. The rules state that a tier 4 visa will not be granted if the application is made more than 3 months before the start of the course.

Hey Greenie,

Thanks for replying and clarifying. It seems a bad situation.

To clear it up,my wife has not received student visa, she received her CAS and unconditional offer letter. She is going to apply for it in July'12 Smile
But thanks a lot for the link and answer.Much appreciated.
