Hi all,

I am currently under Tier 1 Post Study Work visa and my wife is Tier 2, we are both working now. As my visa will expire in February 2013, I am going to apply for a dependant visa.

My question is will I be able to continue working with a dependant visa? Do I have to leave the UK to apply or I can apply within?

Thank you very much.

You can continue working at the same place being a dependant. However you will need to go back to your home country to apply for an entry clearance on your partner's visa as her dependant.

Hello,

The reason why you need to go back to your home country and apply from there is because you are changing your visa type, ie from PSW holder to a dependant of a different visa type altogether i.e. Tier 2 and in your previous visa, you were not a dependant of your spouse, you held it on your own merit.

Around 2 years back I moved from PSW visa holder to a PSW dependant visa holder. I had to go back to my home country to switch into the new visa.

Entry Clearance was granted within 20 days...visa arrived the day of my flight back Very Happy with lots of drama.

I'd suggest you speak to UKBA to clarify this further or if you are from India, call VFS and get some clarification. They are great on both phone as well as email.

Hi,

please can somebody help me with a query below?
I am in England on a Tier 1 PBS Dependent and wants to switch in Tier 2 general because my wife is not working more since. My Company is happy to process Tier 2 General for me. Seems I have to apply from India..

Please can someone advise the average visa processing time when applying from India. Officially it is 4+ weeks but somebody was telling me that, usually they issue a entry clearance with in a week.
Please help me, as has to plan leaves based on the reply for this thread.

thanks in advance
San
Best

In my opinion, I have found the VFS India service pretty prompt and somehow they havent been saddled with any delay issues. i am not sure how long they would take for tier 2, but my psw dependant visa was issued in abt 20 days.
