Got my CoA today. I think they're finally getting around to processing end of June - July applications.

EEA2 Sent - 27/06
Received - 28/06
COA - 07/09

Requested my passport back before getting the CoA on 20/08 and received it 4 days later. I didn't include a special delivery envelope so documents are sent back to me using 2nd class mail.

Got worried a bit from reading the posts here but I think if your application is pretty straightforward and you have all the right documents then it should be alright. Just be patient. Smile

markster , thanks for the info , it cheered me up ... my time line is similar:

EEA2 application received by HO 26/06/2012
COA -???
RC-???

Good luck everyone!

Here is my timeline.
I like to share it especially with May applicants.

EEA2 Sent - 17/05
HO Received - 18/05
COA - 30/07
RC - Arrived 17/08 Dated 09/08

Honestly I did not expect to receive my RC so early, because it took me almost 2.5 month to get my COA.

Acutually I called in for inquiring my COA twice.
On the first phonecall (4 weeks passed after I sent my application), they said to wait more. On the second (almost 2 months passed), this operator said, "Oh, that's late. I am making a COA request for you." And then he processed with his computer, and COA arrived two weeks later.

So it could be one way to remind them of your application.

Hi wishfulmemory,
same here, I applied on March 3 and still no RC. Called them two days ago and they said "no decision has been reached yet"...
So I complained via email, fax and solvit!

Is it true that the UKBA has a legal requirement to send CoA for EEA2, but not for EEA4?

I read this on a forum somewhere, but was not able to locate this in a document so far. If anyone knows where this is stated, I'd be keen to get the link.

Compare Regulation 17 (issue of RC) in particular 17 (3) and Regulation 18 (issue of PR Confirmation).

Hello! Which number are you calling at? I have called to 0845 010 5200 and they said they cannot give me information related to my status, do you have a different one?

Thank you

Thanks Jambo!
In my case I'm applying for EEA4 so am obliged to sit tight until 6 months have passed, but a person in my situation applying for EEA2 can certainly have cause for complaint. It may be worth someone waiting for CoA for EEA2 to formally complain about this because the UKBA do seem to be out of line with some of the delays we are seeing with issuing CoA for EEA2. Yes, they want to do an initial document check, but does that take 2-3 months !?

Nah, that will be the number. I suspect if the person on the other end of the line has something useful to tell you, they'll tell it, or at least hint at it, and if they don't, their fallback position is that they can't access any details about your application until it's 6 months +. Fundamentally the European applications team do not want to encourage people to use the phone service to chase applications under 6 months old, which is why they are as parsimonious as possible with their information.

Thanks a lot for your help
