Hello everyone,
I am completely confused. My employer attempted to use the sponsorship management system and found that he could only make an application for 'restricted' cos.
Now, correct me if I am wrong, I am here as a Tier 4 student and employer willing to help me with Tier 2 general/work permit. UKBA documentation states that unrestricted cos are for 'Switching immigration category' clearly Tier 2 allow people to switch from Tier 4.
So, how can my employer make a unrestricted cos application when it does not appear on the sponsorship management system.
Am I missing something here. I would greatly appreciate if you can help and advise me.
Thank you |

| If your employer is a T2G sponsor the likely explanation is that they don't have an available allocation for a T2G CoS in the current year. If that is the case they would need to apply for an increase in their allocation.. |

Hi Manci,
Thank you for taking time to respond.
Yes, indeed my employer is a T2G (Nice term sounds like a protocol) sponsor. You say 'don't have allocation for a T2G COS' - I am guessing you are talking about Unrestricted COS because that is what my question is about.
Now, your suggestion 'need to apply for an increase in their allocation' - how exactly can we do this?? Is this done by the sponsorship management system or is there a separate procedure for this? Could you please throw some further light on this.
Thank you |

Hi Manci,
This is exactly what the problem we have got. I know we can do this by sponsorship management system but we don't see that option on our SMS account.
This link - http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/business-sponsors/points/sponsoringmigrants/applyforlicence/annual-allocation/
At the bottom states that -
We allocate unrestricted Tier 2 (General) certificates and all Tier 2 (Intra company transfer) certificates based on financial years. If you are applying for a sponsor licence in one of those categories, you must tell us how many certificates you think you will need to last until the end of the current financial year.
How to tell UKBA that we need unrestricted COS - as we are not seeing this on our system.
Sorry if I sound confused but I greatly appreciate your help and taking time to respond.
Thank you once again. |

Thank you so so so so much for this. Now I understand what the problem is.
The reason we don't see the option on our system is because we have not requested for an allocation yet.
However, looking at the instructions, there is nothing on the SMS that clearly indicated that the request is for Unrestricted Tier 2. Will the UKBA assume it is unrestricted ? or do we need to wait for their decision first and then provide them the SOC Code, job description, salary etc for the said role.
Awaiting your response.
Thank you really very much. |

Dear Manci,
I thank you very very much for taking time to respond to all my queries. I have taken a note of these responses. Now the process is indeed clear and it makes sense and like you said 'request for Tier 2 general is for a unrestricted allocation request'.
Yes I have found the employer helpline number and pass it on to my organisation for their further reference.
Once again thank you for your responses and assistance and contributing to this forum.
Have a good day ahead.
Best Wishes |
