Hello,

I am an Australian man married to an Austrian woman. We were married two years ago in London.

I now live in Ireland and have a work permit here and also have the right to live and work in the UK as I have a UK ancestry visa.

I am intending to move to the Netherlands shortly and am wondering the following:
- is there some sort of status I can can get through my wife's citizenship that will enable me to freely live and work anywhere in the EU? If so how do I go about this?

Thx in advance

Yes, apply for nationality of an EU state (subject to relevant residence requirements). Otherwise you are always going to be linked to your partner and her location.

Directive 2004/38/EC will most likely apply to your spouse and you. If you read it, you will see that it gives your wife rights and those rights apply to her family members.
