I was wondering the same, however, from reading another forum it appears that receiving the biometric invitation letter is no indication of whether an application has been approved. Its seems that applicants for ALL applications, irrespective of the outcome, need to enroll their biometric information.
That is how I understand it too. I think they do basic checks on your application first, eg if it's the right form, etc and then they request all the info that they have on you, such as landing cards and biometrics. I guess that way they can check if you are a criminal and corroborate your previous visas.

I guess the only way we will know for sure is from experience, which is why this forum is so great.

Time Line

Post by s_raj11 » Wed May 30, 2012 9:59 am

Hello All,

Not many replies and good news in the last few days. Hoping to hear some good news in this week. This forum is really helpful and will give confidence who are down.

By the way this is my timeline.

Application Posted : 9th May 2012
Acknowledgement dated : 17th May 2012
Acknowledgement received : 18th May 2012

My case is not completely straight forward. I had a returned application in 2006 for one of my student extensions for cheque returned. I have posted the application back with in 28 days. Have to wait and see how it goes.

Waiting for the biometric letter now :( .

I have a doubt. Will everyone who applied get a biometric letter or if the biometric is issued does that mean ILR is through? Sorry it might be foolish question but out of curiosity wanted to check.

All the best to everyone who are waiting and congrats to the ones who have received their PP back recently.

Congratulation to everyone just received their passport back. and i wish and pray for all of us hopefully receive good news soon. INSHALLAH.

first of all I must say thanks to creator of this form as this is very supporting and useful place where we can share our experiences and get help from others. 2ndly While we are waiting i wants to prepare my document ready for my dependents as i have to apply their visa straightway. In my understanding this tread is only for timeline so i have asked my query in separate post.

please visit link and see if we can help as i believe all of us have to apply for our dependent at some stage.

Hi All,
I am new to this forum.. I have also applied in February and have been waiting anxiously for my passport.. My timeline so far is:

Application sent: 27/02/2012
Acknowledgement received: 01/03/2012 dated 29/02/2012

I have had 2 year au-pair visa, 3 year student visa, 4 year work permit and 2 year ECAA visa on my passport.. I actually qualified last year but didn't get a chance to apply due to my wedding and some prearranged holidays.. I needed my passport..

@Midlandresident!

The HO needs every one finger print, I am sure that , sometime in the near future, they will come up with some excuse, claiming that every person over 10 years of age, visiting or living in the UK need to get their biometric done....... it's all about keeping a tab on us, mark my words.
All for one, one for all..... Peace
