No replies for the letter or update for the case. I called up UKBA 2 days ago they said the only way of communication is via letter, however they do not give any acknowledgement of receiving letters, the only way of tracking is via Royal Mail side.

Also, they mentioned that no update will be given via the phone within 6 month of application, but however, do ring them if your case is over 6 month! The option I chose was 2, to request ID back.

I don't know if we have any silent follower here who has been waiting over 6 month?? I am certainly heading this way!! Hopefully this info will be useful to you.

I have applied for ILR under 10 years rule.
date sent 10 oct .
acknowledgement letter received onm 12th oct ...


Still waiting for my ilr , but in the mean while i have a question , couple of times i was arrested (after Drunk and disorderly) during my university days in scotland...

but i was told my the police officers that - since its a drunk and disorderly , it is a minor offence - and that there is a clause where if i did it three times then i would get a record....

and also , i have been granted more visa's ( student / psw) long after the arrests..and even in those applications i havent mentioned the foresaid incidents....
albeit ...im still worried ..a lot .....

raja1976 told me that his visa is expiring end of september 2012 and mine is expiring end of dec 2012 ... may be Home office is delaying case of people with alot of time left for visa .... vien1206 can you tell me that when ur visa is expiring ... if you got alot of time left then it means that we need to relax as its a usual procedure ....

Guys my existing Tier 1 visa is valid until end of September 2012, so it is probably safe to assume that this is irrelevant.

Although raja1976 was told his application was posted on 27 July, I do not think his lawyer is telling the truth if his acknowledgement letter was dated mid August, I think his application was posted around the 10 of Aug.

raja1976 told me that his visa is expiring end of september 2012 and mine is expiring end of dec 2012 ... may be Home office is delaying case of people with alot of time left for visa .... vien1206 can you tell me that when ur visa is expiring ... if you got alot of time left then it means that we need to relax as its a usual procedure ....

I very much doubt this because even if visa expires then the persons position is legal as long as he sent passport to ukba before it expires

I guess the ukba news that came out today about checking foreign passports at airport would explain some of the causes for delay

Hi Hussam,

It has been a pleasure chatting to you, I hope you enjoy your Eid tomorrow, no doubt it would have been nice to have had your passports back before Eid, but inshallah you will have it back by end of this week.

It is my intention to challenge the UK Border Agency’s processing standards, it is certainly not reasonable to expect people to put up with a six months timeframe without even the ability to even have progress reports.

I hardly had any sleep last night out of excitement as soon as I saw that the envelop has been posted, I even went to the extent of driving around trying to find the postman, silly I know, the postman eventually came to the house with the envelop.

I am going to join the Eid celebration in Manchester tomorrow; hopefully it will remain dry like it has been today
