if u use ncs for your
child u will get your original certificates back on the same day.hope this is useful

I am in a little dilemma. I am applying for my daughter's registration as a british citizen in MN1 and also at the same time for my wifes application for FLR(M). Both requires an original copy of our marriage certificate. I am sending the original with my daughter's application and a copy with my wife's with a letter explaning that the original certificate cannot be sent with both applications in the same office. I am a bit puzzled as to why HO needs this in original so many times . I have already send it to them with my ILR application and before that with my HSMP and later Tier 1 visa /extension.

If I were you, I would not hesitate to apply for my daughter's Certificate of Registration as a British Citizen--which is currently an entitlement. Theresa May's recent press release/speech, amongst other things, signifies impending changes are looming around the corner.

I was thinking initially that since my Tier 1 visa ( which was valid till 2012 ) is no more valid as I have now ILR ....my Tier 1 dependents ( wife and daughter) visa is no longer valid. My wife is applying now on FLr(M) and whether my daughter (because she was born here ) can apply for citizenship without going through FLR (m) in the interim. Both you and Sushdmehta feel I believe that my daughter can diectly apply for citizenship on MN1 and my wife applies on FlR (m) asap. Am I right ?

Apply for your daughter to be registered as a British Citizen under section 1(3). It is an entitlement and not discretionary: she can't be refused/denied. If your wife has existing LTR, she'll need to wait until 28 days before the 10th-year anniversary of her lawful residence in the UK before applying for ILR--that is if Theresa Mary May, the current Home Secretary & Co., hasn't changed the rules by then. Hope this helps.

What is your wife's current immigration status? If she is in UK as a dependant, then she needs to apply for leave to remain as spouse of settled person using FLR(M).

I got my ILR today after 10 weeks of wait. I am delighted as was expecting minimum 6 months wait. My daughter was born here in 2002 and is entitled for british citizenship. My wife joined me in 2001 May and was not eligible for ILR application with me.What happens to her now. HO has not given any information and I got confused with the information in UKBA website. Any advice please would be very much appreciated. I found this website very useful. Also how to claim for child benefits .Am I eligible now and what should I do ?

Yes i totally agree, the feeling of happiness and contentment I had when I got that passport was well worth the effort! I have booked a holiday next week to Malaysia lol. I think I need it. Also agree with your points regarding patience for the rest of the people waiting. Wish you and everyone all the success in the world God willing.

Hi Zeddie,

Congratulations! You'll agree with me it's now worth the wait.

To other guys on this thread, I'll say that in my experience and therefore IMO, just take your mind off travelling abroad and patiently wait for your ILR. I only hope you have no cause to change job and therefore need to hand in your passport to your prospective employer. Of course, I can understand some have family members whose visa extensions hinges on the successful outcome of the ILR application. Such dependants may have to temporarily switch to other visa category (e.g. student visa, etc). This said, an applicant for the ILR under the 10-year rule have nothing to worry about if his/her case is straightforward. Just chill out and be ready for the long haul. Once you're on board of a flight and the jet is cruising at 40000 feet in the air...all you can do is patiently wait for it to safely land. If, however, you get a response quicker than anticipated from the UKBA then celebrate it. Otherwise, just wait patiently. Phone calls wouldn't quicken the process, either. We'll all get there eventually. Cheers!!!

Hi guys,

Been reading the forum so thought I'd share my experience:

Applied through a lawyer, went to see him on the 11th, passport sent either on 11/08 or 12/08.

Received letter from UKBA dated 13/08. Money taken a couple of days after that.

ILR stamped 11/11. Passport picked up 15/11 from lawyer.

So total time around 3 months.

Application route: 6 years student, 1 year international graduate programme, 3 years work permit.

Nationality is Sudanese so not known for speedy applications! Looks like the HO is speeding up applications though, which is what I've also heard from my lawyer.

I got a packet today from HO Liverpool with a packet with my documents back without passport that a decision has been made and would be informed soon about it. I dont know what would come next. This is the 10th week after my application.Any ideas

It took nearly 7.5 months, as well as a letter from my lawyer, then a letter from my MP. I sincerely wish everyone here who is waiting, a successful outcome very soon
