Must say it's been some days since all genuine applicants on this thread heard any news from the UKBA about their pending 10 year ILR applications.

I had posted my ilr set (o) application on 10 feb 2010 under the long residence category (10 year students) and still waiting.
By the time i was applying for my PR i completed my Post graduate dip in mgt (Edexcel level 7). My current visa is valid til october 2010.
My question is, Do i still need to continue studies?
I asked few solicitors and some of them say i need to continue studies and some say i don't need to continue studies because ilr is a different category
Can u guys give me some advice
thanx
If you've finished the course you're currently studying and you had/have no intention of pursuing another course on completion of the current one, it will probably be a good idea to send them a certificate or transcript to let them know you've satisfactorily completed it. They may want to check with your college/university that you're still studying...

I suppose with the new regulations (path to citzenship document) coming into force in July 2011, there's a possibility that all other routes to ILR/citzenship apart from the ones documented could be scrapped.

Beige qoted You are not required to send any bank statements. The only requirements are your passports and KOL certificate. I don't work at all ! I really don't have the time to be honest.

I did not know thought you had to. I also sent KOL certificate, I would rather over load the UKBA with information than delay my application incase they needed them, because you have to show that you can support your self without recourse to public funds. My bad, I really thought you had to. Never mind.

There was no mention of 10 year rule. But there were many tories (including William Hague) who feigned ignorance about the 14 yr rule and said that they will get rid of that if such a rule exists!!
So, my feeling is...people with applications waiting to be cleared by home office will not be affected, new rules will come into play next year and 14 year rule will be scrapped.

If this agonising wait for weeks/months on end to hear from the UKBA about ILR application was not bad enough....now this added worry/anxiety as to what lies in store in the new immigration policy (esp. the new government's stand on 10 year rule).

I haven't seen any updates on the UKBA website. Either way, applications already at the UKBA shouldn't be affected.

[Zara quoted]the reason why im freaking out is coz they asked me to come for an identity check and told me to look forward to m passport in a weeks time. its been a month now and no news. they said to me a decision has already been made...reason for my impatient

Hie Zara, I may be wrong but if all they wanted from you was an identity check that means they just want to make sure that its really you sounds positive to me.

I know how you feel, I feel the same way.

It definitely keeps you sane! Thats the best way to describe it.

Good thing there's good news around these days. It definitely has been a while since there was anything positive to talk about.

@ Zara, if its already with a caseworker (hopefully the caseworker is already dealing with it) then hopefully not much longer as long as it is a straightforward application.
@Cloudstar, someone else on the forum had a similar situation to you where they contacted his college about thim. The UKBA had already made a decision on his application but just wanted to verify that he was still studying. His passport was sent back to him within two weeks of the UKBA enquiring about him. So there is really a good chance that you're application has already been decided or nearly decided. I think you will hear back pretty soon.

I also applied in early February this year, still waiting, called them twice, the only answer I got was my application has not been completed yet, they couldn't even tell me if my case has been assigned to a case worker. So I understand your stress on the waiting bit....
I know this summer wont be easy, but time does flies, do something else to keep yourself busy,so you weren't keep your mind on this all the time, get a job if you r still student, even existing visa expired we can still work,I just recently got a part-time job,so keep myself occupied that I won't think about my PR that often now.
God bless us all!!!

Hello...thanks for the support. They truely do drive you crazy. Im sitting tight now and waiting. hope all of us receive some good news soon.
