I do think that someone who has a work permit of HSMP hears a lot sooner, which is nice, but somewhat bias....

So guys can you all please specify who are students and who is on a 'better' status now? My 10 year stay is a combination of student and dependent visa.

What a coincidence!!! yeah, I sent on 9th as well...and i've been on student visa since 2000. I sent the papers through my soliciter .... and to be honest with you was well impressed with the efficiency of the HO when it came to taking the money from the account... on the other hand it takes them ages to process applications....

I agree, ppl with work permits in their 10yrs residency seem to be getting quicker decisions,3 of my friends got their application submitted in Jan 2010 all got ILR granted by early-April, all of them got 7-8yrs student visa+some yrs of work permit.

Ah ha! That definitely explains your quick response, people in your category tend to hear between 10 and 14 weeks.

Somehow I think that applicants who have had a combination of student + work permit or Tier 1 tend to hear first (although this may not be entirely true for august applicants as all their applications took longer). So far I think London101 and sa had a combination of student and work permit.

NoWayOut I am sorry if my question is of sensitive nature - but did you think that your application is a straight forward one or are there any issues or perhaps gaps in our stay, well, any reason really why it may take so long?

My application IS straightforward. There are no gaps, I haven't left the country since I came here. All my visas were applied for on time. Just from looking at my passport it will take about 2 mins to see that there are no gaps and I have maintained 10 year legal stay. So it's nothing to do with my application that is making it take so long.

well, lets hope that it is a sign that applications are moving - but, unfortulately, we still have 4 applicants from January who have not heard anything and even NoWayOut is waiting for ages, so I am not sure if it actually means that there is any progress. I think I will be a lot happier once January applicants will announce good news.

passport came by second class recorded delivery and they sent the special delivery envelope with it..can be used somewhere else i guess.they also sent all documents,passports etc.
last month i had sent them another letter with salary slips,mortgage statements,bank statements stating that although its not required if they need it they could use it or return it if they dont need it..not sure whether that helped.

great news to update.got the ilr yesterday.stamped 30 april received 6 may.
so exactly around 3 months waiting.
the forum has been of great help and support.last month i did get the mp to fax them a letter but they wrote back saying that they cant speed up.have not been through solicitor and my advice for anybody with straight forward application is dont waste money on solicitors.

I really expected the lib dems to do better than this.. with all the hype that had built up with clegg recently!

I had hoped so too. But the polls did show that while the Lib Dems could potentially gain voters did this not equate to actual seats as the support was spread evenly throughout the country. While the Lib Dem did lose seats the amount of votes received increased. Hence the need for proportional representation in this country.

Ho hum this is the ILR thread so back to waiting from this momentarily distraction of the election.
