SC clearance has nothing to do with visas/nationality. It's relative to the position. Im on HSMP and have a SC clearance, im sure many other HSMP'ers have it too. When i applied for SC in Feb2008, and one of my British friends applied for it at the same time, it took the British person about 5 weeks to get it, and it took me about 6 weeks.naveen_k_das wrote:Guys ,
A bit of bad news ... i have been in the UK since the beginning of Feb 2009, and i normally followup with recruiters after i apply for a job. Something thats highly worrisome is that the current situation has left consultants /recruiters very confused about our rights. For the first time today i got to hear from consultants that the job that i had applied for is only for Permanent residents , another another instance the consultant said that i needed SC . Pls note that in both these job specs there was no mention of "only for permanent residents" or "SC Clearance" . My gut feel is that even if the govt comes out with a statement, the damage is already done , and it will take some time before consultants actually start considering us . This sucks big time !!!!!

What do you mean "existing hsmp holders under dec 2006".ssoct98@hotmail.com wrote:kaff your perception is wrong,HSMP and Tier1 are same as tier1 replaced hsmp,i have asked HO and he said yes its same.
so according to confused and i do ring myself, its crystal clear these are not for existing hsmp holders under dec 2006.
What he meant was after december 2006. So you are in same boat as us. Follow our discussion.waz1234 wrote:What do you mean "existing hsmp holders under dec 2006".ssoct98@hotmail.com wrote:kaff your perception is wrong,HSMP and Tier1 are same as tier1 replaced hsmp,i have asked HO and he said yes its same.

I was granted my HSMP in Nov '07, are you suggesting I'm in a different situation?
I hope , Applying for 1st Time means applying for 1st time after 31st March.ssoct98@hotmail.com wrote:Good news,
No need to worry guys, just spoken to WP,and they said it is not affected anyone inside the uk,only for those who are applying for ist time,as Hsmp replaced by Tier 1,so they are extending its stay.
According to him they receive a notice today that resident not affected only new applicant are affected.
so Relax.
You are right. We should wait until we get something down in writing on the HO website or new policy guidance.carrera4 wrote:Hmmm it is too early to talk in these terms, about anything being "clear". We are all just busy speculating. Until the new Tier 1 guidance notes etc etc are available, publicly and IN WRITING, from an official source, not some visa agency or someone reading a memo over the phone, we are only guessing. We'll have to wait to find out, let's just hope the wait isn't too long. Fingers crossed extension applications are not affected, but I'm still not convinced AT ALL
this is what I said, Hsmp and Tier1 are the same, see my answer in response to nonilight question.ssoct98@hotmail.com wrote:kaff your perception is wrong,HSMP and Tier1 are same as tier1 replaced hsmp,i have asked HO and he said yes its same.

On 29 February 2008, Tier 1 (General) of the PBS will be
introduced in the UK and the Immigration Rules for Leave to
Remain as a Highly Skilled Migrant will be deleted. This means
that migrants can no longer apply either for an HSMP approval
letter while they are in the UK or for Further Leave to Remain
in HSMP. In-country applications for HSMP approval letters
made on or before 28 February 2008 will be processed. Any
in-country applications for HSMP approval letters made on or
after 29 February 2008 will be returned. Current holders of
HSMP leave who wish to apply for an extension on or after 29
February 2008, will need to apply under Tier 1 (General) of
PBS.
I think this makes it clear that HSMP replaces Tier 1 and all HSMP holders after dec 2006 till 29th Feb 2008, will need to apply leave as Tier -1
so what does it mean? we are not in Tier one yet so we are in HSMP then when we will apply for extension we will apply for Tier 1, isn't it? so it means we will be new applicant for Tier 1? and if so then this rule effects us.. correct me if i am wrong or confused..kawasaki1 wrote:Guys, if you are currently on HSMP your status has not been changed by Tier 1. HOWEVER, when you come to extension then your status does change to Tier 1 as you CANNOT extend HSMP. Simples.
