Dear cdraina

Is your TOEFL score is still less than 2 years old or is already over 2 years old ?.

-If is is over 2 years old and U r not working/living in the UK (or othe english native xountries) than you might forget Review and better you file up a new application with new IELTS.

- If less than 2 years old than you should try as you have nothing to loose. THis is actually still a gey area and each caseworker might have different interpretation.

Good luck with review

Here's the mail that I wrote to HO guys and their VERY HELPFUL response:

MY MAIL:
=============================================
Dear HSMP Team,

Greetings!

My application details are as follows:

Full Name: XYZ
Reference number: 222XXX
Date of Birth: XXXX

I understand that my application was unsuccessful on the ground that my
TOEFL certificate was not considered an acceptable standard to satisfy
the English Language criteria. I have a TOEFL score of 290/300 and I
believe that such a score would be equivalent to a score of 6 on IELTS.

The following FAQ page on your website (Question No. 39) clearly
mentions that TOEFL is an acceptable certificate for HSMP
applications:
http://www.workingintheuk.gov.uk/worki ... faq.html?

I understand that Home Office has recently started accepting TOEFL
certificates. Hence applications with TOEFL may not be as common, with
the caseworkers, as the applications with IELTS are. This perfectly
justifies the error in evaluation of my case.

I would request you to please suggest me how should this may be brought
to the notice of caseworkers and what should be my next steps?

Kind regards,

Applicant

Hi pantaiema,

My TOEFL score is less than 2 years old.

Chances are bleak, but I am hoping against hope for a positive review.

Thanks for your wishes.

Cheers!

Dear CD~

am claiming 35 points for my masters degree also confirmed by NARIC... i need to know whether i can

send only my Master Degree Award Certificate??

or

Both, my Masters Degree Cert and my Bachelors?

a dilemma to me cos I dont actually hold a Bachelores degree, instead i hold a Government Diploma and i was exceptionally accepted for my masters because of my work.

J,

I sumitted my PG degree (only)and that was accepted (points awarded: 35).

I think you too should not create any complexities for the case-worker by mentioning any details about your UG studies. keep it simple, just send the PG Degree.

All the best!

Oh thanks CD~

Just read one post where someone sent Bachelors and Masters and his case was turned down due to bachelors being not relevant. hence this confusion.

am worrying too much as day nears.

Hey J,

I understand. The plan should be to submit just the appropriate documents asked for. Guidelines speifically ask for Masters Degree ONLY.

No news about m documents yet, I am nervous now. Its raining cats and dogs in Mumbai. I just pray that I get my documents intact.

Cheers!

I know its pouring real bad in Bombay, I join you in your pray for your docs to be in tact. ;)

PAPERS HAVE COME

Post by cdraina » Wed Aug 08, 2007 4:17 pm

Papers have finally come.

The reason for refusal is as follows:

"Your TOEFL comprises of three sections: Reading, listening, writing. For it to be equivalent to IELTS, we would require an additional SPEAKING section testing."

So I don't stand a chance in the review as well. I think I should better write IELTS.

I wonder what are the options for vocally dumb (mute) Higly Skilled individual???

TOEFL alone is not sufficient.. TSE is also required.

All,
I would advise getting a letter as advised in guidance than appearing for a toefl and tse..

TOEFL alone is not sufficient.. TSE is also required.

DD & J,

Have you received your HSMP approvals?

I'm the one having problems with the master's degree not being accepted for 35 points. (I only sent the master's degree when I applied for HSMP. I have no idea how they determined my bachelor degree was not in the same subject!?)

I'm trying to have my master's assessed by NARIC, but I'm not sure if it will successful since I just received an e-mail from them asking for a faxed copy of my bachelor's degree. (BTW, my bachelor's is in Geology and the master's is in Information Systems.)

If you or anyone on this forum has any suggestions, I'm all ears... :)

Thanks!!
