I read chapters 2 - 6 from the book, tried to remember most of the numbers in there, and took these practice tests here: http://www.hiren.info/life-in-the-uk-test/1 . That was enough to easily pass within a few minutes (you get 45 minutes!).

If you dont pass the UK test and spouse visa is running out what can you do? What form for more leave to remain is needed?

you will have another 2 years spouse visa extention.

Just remember that practice is the key to passing any exam, at the same time you don't need to practice 1000s of questions in order to pass this exam. The real exam has 24 questions out of which you can afford to get 6 wrong !

My wife took and passed the British Citizenship Test just over a year ago.

Whilst she was revising for the test, we didn't find any really good online tests she could use, so I put together a test to help her (It randomly selects 24 questions from a bank of over 500 questions). You can run the test as often as you like, and review which questions you got correct, and also those you got wrong. I put this all together in the following website: http://www.uk-citizenship-test.com.

It's FREE and you can try the test as often as you like (the questions will be randomly asked each time you try it)

You do not need anything other than the official books

I fully agree - all you need to pass the test are the official books, and for many people that will be fine - however, some people might find it useful to get some online practice, and it certainly benefited my wife taking the practice test that I put together.

As I mentioned in the earlier - it doesn't cost a penny to use the site - and people can use it to practice as often as they like (with randomly asked questions).

Whichever way you choose - good luck ...

The currrent fees for the test is Â£50.00.

There is no valid to date for this test. Just don't lose the certificate. Otherwise, you have to reappear in the test, as there is no re-issuing of the certificate.

"This site helps you to prepare for the Life in the UK Test that is now required for settlement (indefinite leave to remain) in the UK or British citizenship. It does not give you the knowledge you need to take the test. You can find this information in the 'Life in the United Kingdom: A Journey to Citizenship' handbook. This is the only book you will need to buy to prepare for the test."

The name of the book is 'Life in the UK: A Journey to Citizenship'.
Currently people have to study chapters 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. I just passed my test, but I had to use an online training program to help me out! I highly recommend them. I am amazed at how much info we are required to memorize!!! Good luck to you all.

Hi all,

I am going to attend the life in the UK test very soon.I am a little bit confused if I should focus on the data of census 2001 or 2011 ?.I can see only 2001 data included in all tests provided in latest version too so would be grateful if anyone here please suggest for ?

The tests are not difficult provided that you are prepared and have studied the official book. There are some good free resources available online which can be used for practice tests. Some more tests are available on www.liuk.co.uk

Hi onepunter,

I have given the test already and passed at a time.
The test is still based on 2001 census data as revised in 2008 2th edition of Knowledge in the life in the UK though the data of 2011 released but yet to come into practice.

I just passed the life in the uk test 2nd Edition.
The new third edition comes out from 25th of March 2013.
Do I need to pass it again using third edition or once I passed it means don't need to appear again.
I need it next year in november 2014 anyway.

No. Your LITUK test result has no expiry date, so is valid indefinitely.
