I don't know why it's taken so long to even deduct money from my account nor have I received the acknowledgement letter from UKBA. This application is for my wife and I had applied 2 months ago and it was a lot quicker as I got my Naturalisation certificate in 5 weeks. Anyone else who application is unusally delayed or haven't got the payment deducted.

I applied on 5th October through the amazing NCS and it took 23rd to deduct fee and 25th to receive acknowledgement letter, to be honest in this time folks received approvals in months of sep and aug...its a shame that no payments were see taken so far for applications made on or after 10th...i think just blaming the rush wont suffice...but people whose fee got debited on 4th october got their approvals by 22nd october so looks like it is taking complete october to clear the backlog of spetember and applications lying since last so many months...God only knows when the October applications will be processed...

Just a sincere advice to everyone who are waiting, if you would like to find out the status of your application then the best option is to email home office NationalityProgress@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk rather than calling the 0870 number. The reason is that the reply via email is received from Sheffield where your application is processed and they are in better position in giving you the status. Whereas 0870 number is for the Croydon office where you may not get status update as experienced by many.

Thanks forbc123, yes they will check the system and can tell you whether a decision has been made.

I suggest you give them atleast 6 weeks since your application date and then write to them asking for the status.

I have applied on 15/10/2013, I haven't heard from ukba, I contacted them on 28/10/2013 and was informed by the gentleman who answered the call, that there's severe backlog due to the mass applications to meet the end October deadline. He also states that I am not yet on the system, but I should not worry as things are progressing very slowly, I am praying that things will get back to normal soon, good luck to your where's application.

Received acknowledgement letter today with yesterday date mentioning the payment has been declined. That is a big surprise as I have been making sure for every single day since 18/98 that there are clear funds available in the account. Also called the bank to confirm. Bank has stated that there hasn't been any payment decline recorded on their. Anyways I have resent the payment slip and advised the bank that there is going to be a payment deduct by UKBA. Fingers crossed. Good thing is something has happened
