I've been watching this thread for a few weeks now.

It's my husband's application. Here's the timeline:

Eligibility criteria: British Citizen Spouse 3 years
Method of application: NCS Hampshire
Date of Application: 5/3/14
Date of receipt by UKBA: 6/3/14
Date of debit of fees: 10/3/14
Date of receipt of acknowledgement: Around 17/3/14
Date of receipt of approval: 10/4/14
Date of Ceremony: 3/6/14

We're pleased at how quick the approval was (around 5 weeks) as we were expecting to be waiting a lot longer for that. However, we had though the ceremony would be sooner than 8 weeks after approval! It's a bit of a long wait but we are in no rush so won't pay for a private one. Still have the passport to do next before we can go on holiday anyway!

I have one quick question, i have received the citizenship invitation letter from home office and i booked the ceremony as well.My question is that do i only need to show this invitation letter received from home office to the council or do i have to produce any other docs as i did not received any thing from council or any one else.
You also have to bring a proof of identity, such as passport or photo driving licence.

Finally brown envelope arrived, after a long wait of 5 months.

My Time line
Eligibility criteria: HSMP 3 years+ Tier 1 2 years + 1 year ILR (Applied for myself, wife and 2 children.)
Method of application: NCS - Bolton
Date of application: 11/11/13
Date of receipt by UKBA: 12/11/13
Date of debit of fees: Payment drawn from my account on 11/01/14.
Date of Acknowledgment received: 15/01/2014 (dated 11/01/2014)
Date of approval: 10/04/2014 Post arrived on 17/04/2014
Date of Ceremony: Not yet

Apparently the delay was due my Case worker going off sick.

Also for KOLL requirements i had only submitted my Degree certificate and letter from university stating that my degree was taught in English.
I had received a letter from Home office requesting for NARIC letter. As NARIC letter was not required as per the home office website. I mentioned this clearly in a covering letter and also included a self assessment from the point based calculator. This was sufficient and i received approval based on this.

Thanks for everyone.

Guys yesterday my mate gave me a 0300 number to check on the progress of my application. I wasnt gonna call but did anyway. I applied on the 13th of march and fees debited on the 20th. The guy that answered the phone at ukba asked for my ref number and told me to hold while he checked the system for my records.

He then came back to tell me its not even with a caseworker as yet because his system is not showing any progress since fees were debited and applications could take up to 6 months  . Im surprised after takiing the fees so quickly its still sat there in a pile just waiting. I guess its late may for me then

Eligibility criteria: British Citizen's Spouse - 3 years
Method of application: NCS Brent
Date of Application: 04/03/2014
Date of debit of fees: 10/03/2014
Date of receipt of acknowledgement: letter dated 14/03/2014
Date of receipt of approval: 17/04/2014 (dated 15/04/2014)
Date of Ceremony: yet to be booked

Wanted to share my experience..
We had read about someone sending a special delivery envelope along with their application..
We decided to do the same and it worked !
They sent the approval letter in the special next day delivery envelope which we had sent along with the application.. :)
Its just £5-6, which is nothing compared to the entire fee.. wonder why the home office doesn't do this..
It would save so much of anxiety.. and nobody would mind paying £5 more when they're paying such a big amount..

And the contact centre.. just one day before this I called them up but they had said that my application hasn't been picked up by any case worker !
And within 2-3 days I got the approval letter !

Hi Adkh2_1,

Yes you will need to demonstrate your Knowledge of English language (KOLL). But I don't think you should have any problem with this, since your degree was obtained in UK. In my own case, I simply went to the point calculator page on home office website and inserted my qualification. So far you are able to obtain 10 points for English language on the point calculator website, just print the page that indicates you have been awarded 10 points for English language and send it across to home office with your original certificate. Then you should be fine! Or simply contact UK Naric for KOLL and they will send you the document confirming your eligibility for a fee. This is the simplest and will give you peace of mind but it comes at a cost.
