Yes got the extension for 3 years after I wrote them a letter and pointed out the error. But I must say sometimes these H.O guys really don't apply their brains. It turned out that they didn't have my photograph for the vignette i.e stamping process, so when I didn't get my passport I rang them up again and upon inquiry I got to know that they require 2 more photographs which I sent out immediately. Even after that they took 1 full week to send back my passport.

Anyhow all is well that ends well.

Got my passport back last Friday with stamped extension, took about 10 days altogether.

Submitted documents Aug 23 by Special delivery
Received acknowledgment letter dated Aug 23 rd on Aug 27
Sent urgent treatment request form

by fax on Aug 30. Reason for urgent treatment - visa appointment in French embassy.

Got the passport back with the new stamp Sep 2.

However, they stamped Aug 31 2008 as the end of the visa validity, while my previous visa ended Oct 26. Not sure whether I need to bother about this - when I apply for ILR three years down the line, will they issue me with a visa for two more months before giving ILR?

Additional documents submitted:
Contract 1st and 2nd job
Letter of resignation 1st job
Letter accepting resignation 1st job
Job offer letter 2nd job
Payslips 5 months 1st and 2nd job
Bank statements for 3 months, current and savings account. £5K savings
Marriage certificate

The interesting bit:

My first job was with a struggling start-up. All in all I earned £1080 in 7 months of employment (no salary for 4 months and £360 per month for the last 3 months). This is the monthly minimum which does not require National Iinsurance or Income tax contributions. In June I stopped working for the start-up and started working for a 'normal' company, with salary of 23K - the start-up still owes me around 5.5K in wages. I was a bit worried about how to present this, but then I decided to explain all this frankly in the cover letter, and enclosed a print-out showing start-up's owings to me, and it worked.

I tried to send a fax with the urgent consideration form to the general number, but the number on the form 0114 259 3357 was busy all the time (tried over more than an hour). I then gave a call to the in-country team which is supposed to handled my application (I didn't know they changed the structure like that; now they have teams which handle applications according to applicant's last name's first letter, http://www.workingintheuk.gov.uk/workin ... dvice.html). They answered the call immediately and confirmed it was OK to send the form to their fax number, which I did.

Hoping to get my passports back soon and will then post the dates of submission and result.

Congrats on your extension. Your RP should have been extended till Oct 26 2008 and not Aug 31 2008, for ILR purposes, you could send back your passport with a covering letter explaining this.

Otherwise you may well have to make another FLR(IED) application to qualify for ILR under the present 4 year rule.

I came to London on 27th july on HSMP and since then been on some odd job. Salary is not bad. Opened bank acccount and appeared for NI interview with local job centre offfice.

Not in my profession. I came alone and my spouse did not come with me.

Till now have got 2 rejection letters from employers.

I claimed 100 points including spouse. Not sure whether spouse points were awarded or not.

I am worried about extension.

To apply for extension, Spouse has to be present in UK or not. Will they reject my application saying that you claimed 10 points for spouse but you did not bring your spouse to UK.
Moreover when to apply for extension.

Please help experienced guys.

I don't think the extension will have anything to do with the issue of your spouse. It will be considered on your own circumstances.

If you do not find employment in your chosen field or are out of work, you may be given a 1 year extension as opposed to the normal 3 years. You should normally apply within 2 months of expiry of your 1 year HSMP visa.

There was an instance of someone who worked as a security guard who got a three year extension on HSMP. Also the guidelines do not state that you have to work in your chosen profession but merely in a job "suited to your skills and experience".

It is not that I am out of any employment. Just after landing of four days I got a job but not in my own profession.

Also I opened a UK Bank acccount and Appeared for the NI Number interview. I hope to get the NI card within two weeks time.

Under there conditions wont I get three years extension.

Mate, I think you are worrying prematurely about your extension as it is not due till next year. By that time, your circumstances could have changed and you may be working in your chosen field.

anytime within two months before expiry. doesn't make that much difference really between 1 or 2 months because they are processing these within ~10 days.

Yes. On the form, I just ticked the box that said "other" and wrote "French Embassy appointment for visit visa (business travel) 23/9/05". I do have email confirmation from the French embassy, but didn't fax that with the urgent treatment form.

Please could me offer your opinion. I give u a brief of my case history.
I am in Chemistry laboratory (Specialised) related profession. I claimed 100 points including 10 points for spouse. I cannot say whether the spouse points were given to me or not. Any how But she did not come with me to London.I came to lond in july 05 alone. Since then I am doing some reception job in a hotel in London. I am economically active and the wages are also 12K pa.

I have got NI no, Bank account and applied for a UK driving licence.

I am worried about extension. I have a lot of time for extension as I will be applying for it in april 2006. Please help for following points.

My wife has to be with me in London when going for FLR(IED)
Will I get extension for three years on the basis of my current hotel job. I have not claimed any public funds. My employer has had P45 form filled.

I have some rejection letters of my HSMP designated profession.
May be in future I may get my HSMP designated profession, as next week I am having interviews. If i get it the salary is to the tune of 30K.

Possibly It could be that I am worrying prematurely.

But to think the bad of worst. I am planning the future.

Please help me. I am in London and Lonon is very expensive city and very difficult to survive.

my advice is to keep applying for jobs in the chemistry field, and keep documents of applications, ads, interview appointments, even rejection letters. hopefully you will change jobs before april 2006. but if not, as long as you show you have been trying to get work in your chosen field, i think it will be ok. anyway, you are economically active and not receiving public funds.

under those circumstances, i can't say whether they will give you 1 or 3 years extension, since there are examples of both. so it's really best not to worry about it now, and just focus on getting a highly skilled job.

your wife does not have to join you for FLR application in april. it's optional.

Yea, I have preapred a file which is having the following papers related to my Chemistry field.

Relevant JOB Advertisements
Interview letters
Registration with agencies
Rejection letters.

One thing more bani, I assume that HSMP has awarded me spouse 10 points and did not come with me to london. Will it not be a matter of concern at the time of extension, simply arguing that you claimed 10 points for spouse but did not accompany with you. Overall logically it could mean that the prospective candidate is in UK with about 55 points????

I have interview and rejection letters in another UK Shoratage occuplation list. Will it also be helpful to get the extension although away from my field..

Hi all,

One mor milestone achieved as I got my HSMP FLR approved for 3 more years today and they took just 3 working days:

Documents sent : 14th September
Payment deducted : 15th September
Acknowledgment received : 16th September
Got docs and passports back : 20th September (today).

I didn't ask for urgent treatment and sent them the following:
- filled form
- 5 payslips
- 5 months bank statements
- Marriage certificate
- letters from employer (contract, appointment letter, reference letter)

hi tech, i feel you've already gotten multiple opinions on your case. no one can do better than speculate - and if you're not satisfied with the answers so far, you can always contact the Home Office directly.

there's really no need to divert this thread to your own concerns about your own extension, which is not even due in 9 months! when it actually becomes relevant (early 2006) i'm sure we'll all be happy to help you prepare your extension. but please don't ask the exact same questions to every new person who posts their extension on this sticky thread.

can't understand why do you have such a negative thinking!! why the hell do u think that you wont get the job in next 9 months in your field, and why the hell are you satisfied with what you are earning now!! If you won't aim for high salary and the relavent job in ur field m sure u will be struck where u r now!

and why do u think that u wont be able to bring ur wife in next 9 months !! if your only goal was to join 12k paying odd jobs and even u want to happily continue this kinda job even after then I am sure u r not doing anything good neither to your qualifications which helped u getting into this country nor u will help to UK economy! kindly think about contributiing not being a burdon on community.
