I'm not so sure, if it was only extending, conflicting with this document, page 11, which says "Switching into Tier1 General Route", and first bullet "highly skilled migrant"

which means, HSMP is not only extending but also switching to Tier1. I am totally confused guys...

If you read only the instructions for HSMP candidates extending using Tier1 form, it is very clear that we can still claim 30 points for Bachelors degree.
Many mails received from UKBA too confirmed the same. Many have spoken to UKBA and confirmed by calling them including me.

My understanding of why we have HSMP mentioned under Tier 1 (General) first time application is, HSMP is also one of the immigration category from which you can switch to Tier 1 (General) in UK (not required to go back to your home country for EC) even if you are still not eligible for extension under Tier 1. This is just my understanding, please consult any qualified immigration lawyer before making any decision.

I still don't have an answer as to whether people on Tier 1 PSW have to have Masters degrees to switch into Tier 1. Is everybody on HSMP here? If so you are very lucky. Where is everybody else on Tier 1 PSW? Is anybody here? I was told by Named OISC advisors that HSMP will be exempt from the new rules but people on Tier 1 PSW, work permits, etc will have to have a master's degree. This article:

Please go to Page 27, Section A, which says "is the applicant making an application for..., Select second option, which is extension, it takes you to section C. On Section C, it asks "is the applicant in UK under"... Select second option, and go to Section 3C on Page 44. When you go to Page 44, you can claim 20 points for age under 30, and at page 45, 30 points for BSc.

So dear HSMPians, hope this answers all the doubts.

We HSMPians are eligible to "EXTEND" our visa under Tier 1 and the changing rules will nof affect us.

Many forum members already wrote this, however finding the information under the application form made me feel better.

go to this page, and see the links on the right hand side. You will see 2 different forms. One says "valid from 31st Mar 09", other says "valid until 31st Mar 09".

So the forms are updated, and this form

is "From 31 Mar 09" and we can claim points according to Page 45.

The new rule shall be effective by tomorrow.
Looking at UKBA site, it looks like they have the new guidance doc, but not the form or points based calculator. I wonder if someone wants to apply tomorrow, where to get the form, or how to make use of point based calculator.

Don't think one can use old form in conjunction with new criteria and Points based calculator is not mandatory but definitely is good to have.
