Finally after 7 months of waiting!

Post by naveen_nagesh » Mon Feb 18, 2013 9:43 pm

Hi Guys,

Practically been through HELL, thanks to UKBA. Horrible service for the small fortune we have to pay to just get a visa extension. My suggestion to ones who want to apply for extension, please do opt for Personal Session if possible. The amount of mental trauma UKBA has caused is unexplainable. I had to postpone my travel multiple times, since I was desperate. But finally peace has been served. Here is my processing times.

BIG THANKS to this forum, which gave me company through the hour of darkness.

1. Current vignette: Tier 1 - General
2. Date of expiry of current leave: 22/12/2012
3. Number of dependants applying at same time: 0
4. Date application posted: 01/08/2012
5. Date application received at UKBA: 02/08/2012
6. Date payment debited: 02/08/2012
7. Payment mode : VISA
8. Acknowledgement letter received: 06/08/2012
9. Biometric letter received: 25/08/2012- WRONG NAME ;CORRECT LETTER - 14/09/2012 (Dated :11/09/2012)
10. Date of biometrics enrolment: 15/09/2012
11. Date of approval: 24/01/2013
12. Date of return of passport and other documents: 29/01/2013
13. Date (new) leave to remain valid from: 24/01/2015
14. Date BRP received: 18/02/2013( This is the worst bit, I had to wait almost a month for the card, why cant they send everything together.)

All the best with your applications.

Postal service or Same day ?

Post by nasir639 » Tue Feb 19, 2013 1:36 pm

Hi Guys,

I am due to apply soon for Tier 1 general extension. I was wondering which option is the better. A lot of people commented about delay in postal service etc. So was tempted to go for same day service but the home office fee is too much and double the solicitor fee on top of that.

So, what would you do if you were me and would you fill the application yourself or hire a solicitor..

If you cant afford the PEO appointment/appointment via solicitor, just do a postal application, BUT the danger is if you need to travel somewhere - you simply cant. doing postal with solicitor, unless your case is complicated, is a waste of money IMHO. Just make sure you fill the form correctly and send banker's draft/postal drafts to make sure your applocation wont get stalled at the initial process and returned as invalid.

On a good side, it seems like they speeded up the aplication consideraiion process. THose who applied after Jan 2013 seem to get their visa faster. although nothing is guaranteed.

P.S. i applied postal although could affor a laywer and regreted it a bunch

If I were you, I would do the same day service, and fill the Forms myself. As Mela mentioned, the processing time seems to be getting better, but I would have gladly paid multiple times the difference for same day service instead of waiting for 5 months for a decision. I assure you, apart from the fact that you are stuck in the country, the waiting time is excruciatingly difficult.

Utterly ridiculous service. Compensation should be due to those with processing times such as these, the UKBA need to be held accountable. Simply inexcusable.
