Are you doing the same profession as approved in HSMP approval.
- Yes

Is your spouse with you in UK when you applied for extension, provided if you have claimed 10 points of spouse during HSMP approval.
- Yes, she is with me but Ididn't claim her points.

Please can you throw some more light on letters from the employers side like reference letters, contract letters, appointment letters.
- I provided these letters to supplement that I've permanent employment so won't recourse to public funds.

I don't think it will be particularly useful to share the contents of my summary page any more so than I already have. My suggestion is to include as much information as you think would be useful for the case officer to get a good idea of your first-year activity and profile at a glance, and no more. So put in relevant dates (EC validity, date of arrival in the UK, etc.), the H/O reference number, a table of gross/net earnings, taxes and NI contributions, relevant info viz jobs and so on (but keep it to one easy to read page). My sense from my own case is that they got the file and skimmed through it, without taking any of the documents out of the folder leaves, and approved it. Which to me indicates that there is some value to being cogent, clear and to the point.

You may find that a more detailed approach may work better for you, but this is my two cents.

The new FLR(IED) form is easy enough to locate on the All Forms page of the 'working in the UK' web site.

Sent application for extension today 28/9 - special delivery. HSMP visa expires 29th november so 2 months in advance.

I sent:

Passport
Completed application form
2 passport photographs
12 months bank statements (I know I don't have to send them all but I thought what the hell)
12 months pay slips (see above)
Job contract
Appointment letter

Thanks to everyone who's posted on here, I've found it really helpful in the past few months. Basically I applied for HSMP just before I got a permanent job. Although this job entitled me to a WP, I had no choice as my LTR expired the week after the interview - couldn't take the risk of the WP route. I got the HSMP and considered applying for a WP instead of extending the HSMP as I thought it'd be quicker but thanks to all your posts, I realised this was a quicker way to do things and didn't involve my employers which is what I prefer.

Will let you know how I get on! I'll also be eligible for ILR early next year so it'll all begin again

Got my extension for 3 yrs today. Thanks to everyone here and the board for their invaluable inputs.

I was just beginning to get worried cause my case seemed to be taking much longer than other people here and was thinking of sending an urgent request. I did not manage to get a job within my field for the whole duration although i did manage to supplement my academic qualification with few certifications and courses which were not available out of UK. I thought i may as well get that before im booted out after 1 yr. Strangely i got an offer just after i sent my docs for extension. I did do some temping and was paid resonably well for them and 3 months ago got a permanent job offer for a job not from my line of work and lower salary but i picked it up just to supplement my case for extension. My spouse though had an offer just before we landed here and has been doing well.

Docs sent :
12 months salary slips & P-60 for self & spouse
job offer letters for self & spouse
Bank statements
rent agreement & utility bills
NI cards for self & spouse
certificates for all the qualifications i got here
12-15 jobsearch related emails
Summary paragraph each for earnings (monthly/annual) & savings (for various bank accounts)

I added a half page covering letter explaining my case.

Hi Noddy, they use recorded 1st class delivery (if you don't include the special delivery envelope). so your passport can be tracked. but it's not insured.

My timelines:

EC was due to expire 29/11/05

Sent application off wednesday 28th september (special delivery)
Money deducted thursday 29th september (from debit card)
Recieved confirmation of reciept monday 3rd october (letter dated 29th september)
Recieved 3 year extension in thursday 6th october's post (letter dated tuesday 4th october)

I didn't include a pre-paid envelope. They sent it 1st class recorded delivery.

ps: the extension is until 29th november 2008.

No you don't need to send the photocopies, just the originals. They make their own photocopies.

No, you don't need to include the guidance pages. I only sent pages I'd writtten something on.

The FLR forms says HSMP extension application should be submitted only 1 month before the expiry. But looks like you people have been sending it 2 months ago. My approval is expiring on 15th dec and I am waiting to send it for extension. Please suggest when is the right time?

That is strange as I called them up end September and my visa is expiring on 24 November 2005. The lady told me to send it and I have sent it on October 6 2005.

Try calling one more time and see what they have to say.

Hi Developer,

My suggestion would be to mention it in your cover letter and send the ones you have. If I am not mistaken, the Workpermit guys are more keen to establish that you are currently employed rather than for how long.
