We submitted a bank statement that stated both our names along with a letter from the bank confirming we hold 50000 and that it is a joint account.

Same here but what to think we choose this thing I don't mind the wait as long we know what's going on with the status plus only this happening due to this new gov who is against immigrants specially from Muslim countries all this happened in last 2 years keep on changing rules but ukba don't even have an idea how to tackle its just common sense 4 things needed to be checked on each application
Degrees
Maintance funds
Investment funds
Recent visa

3 things are local n 1 only take 20 mins on fax or email or call

Phew! I am pleased to say my mate got his visa today after six months of waiting.

In-country application was for himself and two dependants. It was a transition from PSW so the £50K route.

Application Timeline:

Applied 28th Aug 2012
Bio given 4th Sep 2012
Received BRP received today, 14th Mar 2013.

Documents submitted:
Company Docs for an IT company supplying SW and HW services
Job description of his role as Senior Systems Developer
Bank statement for personal account with investment and maintenance funds adding to £60K
Supplier-Client contract
Order Form (Purchase Order)
Some in-house printed leaflets with pricing
In-house printed Business Cards

Interim activity: None at all, no contact was made with clients.

I hope this helps.

Good Luck and Best Wishes.

Jabs thanks for the update.
Please could you confirm did your friend showed investment funds and maintance funds in one account or separately in two different accounts? Thanks

Yes, the investment and maintenance funds were in just one account. However, he clearly mentioned in his supporting statement how the funds were broken down.

For any foreseen questions, no business plans or additional documents were submitted.

It maybe worthwhile to mention, and possibly hope for others, this was a FRESH application.

Whilst on PSW he was working for an employer that committed to sponsor him to extend his leave. Unfortunately, end of Feb 2012 he got made redundant.

His PSW was due to expire in mid Mar 2012, not having much time he opted to study for Masters at a reputable University, bearing in mind T1 Entrepreneur reduced funds of £50K did not kick in until Apr 2012.

He enrolled on the course (April Start Date) and started studying but in Jul 2012 his Student visa was refused for minor anomalies. The University was very considerate and refunded all his course fees. So in Aug 2012 he applied for his Entrepreneur Visa.

I wish all the best to the ones who are still awaiting for a decision.

Thats surprising and so lucky, the applicant had PSW expired in March 12. Before expiry he applied for extension under student visa which was refused in July 12. In Aug 2012 he applied for T1E and got it on the basis of PSW visa which was expired in March 12!!!

Does immigraiton rules allow this?? OR his application is approved under compassionate reasons?

Bear in mind of the rules at that time, not now.

His refusal of student visa was a blessing in disguise, however, the immigration rules state your last (in his case this applied) or current visa must be PSW to apply for Tier 1 Entrepreneur and he met this criteria.

There was no luck in this matter, he simply met the requirements.

The anecdote is for those who may benefit from the experience but there is no value discussing what's acceptable or not. The UKBA rules are very clear about the pre-requisites.

Sorry for being ignorant, but still I am unable to understand and figure out that what is the difference in rules now v july 12 for T1E.

Yes, that surely was a blessing in disguise.
