I thought i needed to apply for british citizenship as i was born after 1983 and my mother did not get naturalised until after i was born, but while trying to find out dates off her for the form she said that she had everyone naturalised at the same time as her when we were children, now i need to find out how to verify this and get a copy of the certificate, i have tried phoning home office and emailing an email address they gave me but no one is responding after weeks and i need to know this information as soon as possible, does anyone know what the best options are for finding this information out and a copy of the certificate? Any help is appreciated thanks.

I would probably start by making a subject access request to the UK Border Agency: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/navigation/personal-data/

The information that you get from a subject access request could help if you need to order a replacement of any certificate that may have been issued. The only problem i have with that is that i dont have any form of ID that they require, i need the certificate in order to get a passport and i dont have any other type of photo ID as i also cant get a driving licence.

It says on the form to send a copy of passport, driving license, national identity card or ARC card and since I dont have any of those im stumped on that way, I could risk the £88 and just apply for a duplicate as I know what year it would have been done if it definately was but then if she was mistaken thats £88 that could have been used towards applying for citizenship

Adults get a Certificate of Naturalisation, children get a Certificate of Registration.

Once issued there is effectively no difference in effect between the two. But as you titled this topic Naturalisation Certificate, I felt the need to point out that what you actually seek to get is a copy of your Certificate of Registration.

The same form is applicable for any duplicate to do with citizenship though isnt it? Sorry i dont really know much about this my mum doesnt understand about different certificates and things and so was very vague she just remembers having got everyone a certificate at the same time, another reason why i wanted it verified first before trying to get a duplicate as if she is mistaken then im not sure if they refund the £88, if anyone knows wether you do or not it would be great help. Without ID applying for the duplicate may be my only option unless by some miracle my brother manages to find where my dad has put the originals and as we are not on good terms with him at the moment he may be difficult about it.

I was born in 85 but my mother did not sort the naturalization out until 92 anyway so they should be able to find it if it is there
