My husband recently received his ilr but as his passport had expired his ilr was not put into the passport but was given an immigration status document instead. My husband has now renewed his passport but what we want to know is does he have to put the immigration status document into his new passport before he travels or can he travel and just make sure he takes this document with him? The reason for asking is it is very difficult to get a slot at any PEO and he doesn't want to send his passport by post as that would take ages as he wishes to travel asap.

Your husband can travel with the document.ILR is no longer endorsed on the passport.People are now given the card on its own.

We thought he could travel on this document but just wanted to check. My husband does not have a BRP as he applied for his ilr before the new rules about biometrics were in force so we presume the immigration status document would be enough for him to travel. But will they not question why he does not have a BRP? because like you said they do not put the ilr in the passport anymore and this document surely is instead of the card until he decides to apply for a biometric card when he is able to.

hey guys, when passport is expired, you will be issued with Immigration Status Documents which is valid for travel.

Hey guys, the immigration status document is on A4 paper and is valid for travel with a valid passport. UKBA issue immigration status documents only when passport are expired.

I am in same state where I have received my ILR As ISD on A4 paper. More I search about this more I get confused. COuld someone please be kind enough to explain it in simple steps:

I have received ILR after 14 years (in march,2010) and I am so much confused and no idea what to do next. I didnt pay attention in last 2 years but now I have to travel overseas hence this query. I am aware that I can travel on ISD but prefer not to as its pain to explain this to immigration officers apart from keeping this paper safe.

I understand now ILR is not stamped in the passport now, then whar are the options I have ? Any advise is highly appreached.
