Post by imran2013 » Tue Nov 19, 2013 5:28 am

hi
ive called home office to change my address with them so i did that and suddenly i ask the citizenship question she asked me residential requirement and all the years she counted and in last she also said u dont need ILR, u would be automatically permanent resident, after that she said u r eligible for naturalisation i was shocked how can she say that so then the next day ive called home office again different lady picked up the phone and she said the same story.

after that

i ve been looking this forum since 2 weeks i would like to ask some question
am i eligible for naturalisation?
ive got 2.5 student visa,2 year post study work(psw),eea family member 3 years.
i searched alot but couldent find the proper answer, ive been to nationality checking service they didnt even know in details ive seen people on this forum they have the the same issues like mine and they already got the certificates.
the lady on the phone also said student visa dont count but if your last visa leads to permanent resident then its countable and u can apply .
please i need your guys help if this is possible then this would be an amazing dream for me lol
please leave your ideas and guide me through proper channel
and please dont send me ukba websites its very complicated ive been through all of them like 10 times.
i will be checking this daily please need some suggestions

are you here 10 years already?

either 10 years legal stay in the UK or 5 years as EEA family member

You would qualify for ILR after 2.5 years ( UK route )

and PR after 2 years ( 5 years after marriage ) ( EEA route )

that's why i don't trust those advisor . Why do they give wrong information.
UK Student Visa : 04/2004 - 09/2009
EEA Residence Card : 07/2010 - 7/2015
EU Settled Status: Confirmed on 16th July 2019
Naturalisation : Confirmed on 02nd Oct 2020
Passport Approval : 21st Feb 2021

askmeplz82 is correct with regards to ILR/PR.

However, for naturalisation, you also need an extra year following ILR/PR, unless you are the spouse or civil partner of a British citizen.
