Work Permit chances

Post by pencillin » Tue Sep 25, 2007 1:15 am

Hello All,
I'm just wondering what are my chances to find some company to sponsor me a work permit with 6+ years experience in .Net technologies, I'm specialized in Windows Mobile/Windows CE thing.
I've started this friday applying for agencies, seems my resume is doing well in attracting but most of them are put off with the work permit fact, I'll be eligible to apply for hsmp in like 3 months from now but problem is that my chances for hsmp are poor because of not-so-good past earnings proof (describe in another thread)
Bottom line, do you think it worth the try applying for job without having HSMP or work permit? I'm currently in the UK on a visit visa, do you think I better cut it off and enjoy my holiday instead?
Have anyone before been successful in securing a work permit out of applying to agencies?

Many thanks in advance,

Hi pencillin

There may reasons that an agency is reluctant to find you work, because an agency cannot employ you as an agency worker (temp) on a work permit, if they have not advertised the post on behalf of an employer there may be problems applying for a work permit, you don't have HSMP, you don't have other permission to work in the UK, and you would most likely (almost certainly?) have to go back to get entry clearance anyway.

Not impossible though IMO, maybe just harder than if you were in the UK on a student visa, for example.

Maybe someone will let you know if they have been successful!

If you are good enough, I recommend you come to London and stay for two weeks, before you come try to arrange for some interviews.
a friend of mine did that and he find employer who could issue work permit for him.
good luck
