Should i take this chance?

Post by momer79 » Mon Aug 11, 2008 3:04 pm

Hi, I recently gave interview for software developer role but company is offering me junior developer role as they think i don't have much experience to take this role.

That is the email i received from the company

------------------------------

Following your recent interview for position of Programmer/Software Developer, I write to inform you that whilst we do not feel you are suitable for the specific position, we would like to make an offer to you for position of Junior Programmer. The reason for this is that we feel that you do not have the experience needed to take on the role, but we do believe that you could eventually gain such experience with our company and progress through career advancement with this company. We will offer you the position of “Junior Programmer Designateâ€

Can you elaborate more about your current work, specially location?

If you are making a move from India to UK then I would recommend you to take this role and work hard to complete your probationary period successfully. You also need to assess your level of skills to take up new opportunity. Its relatively far easy to crack a job in Indian IT industry as demand is mostly high, however, expecting same turn around in UK would be highly risky.

If you are already working in UK then no question of evaluating new offer.

Hi, I live in manchester and working as a application support consultant and trying to move into software development. I got offer from sheffield.

I have another permanet job offer as a junior developer but this job is in wakefield and don't like this area that much.

This job offer seems very risky.

Taking a junior developer position would have been fine, but this trial period concept seems non sense.

Where will you be if the company,at the end of three months, tells you that you haven't been found fit to be offered a junior developer position?

I am sure this is a small organization which is trying to take advantage of you. Such custom made offers can only come out of small organizations having no principles or policies.
