No, there is no consistency -- that is what is so maddening, and nerve-wracking. When my MP asked about the wide disparity for processing times, she was told it depended on the caseworker's caseload. That makes no sense: why would some caseworkers be given three times as many applications to process as someone else? Yet the waiting times posted here vary between 9 weeks and 26!
I think it really has to do with how efficient and diligent different caseworkers are -- and I'm afraid the ones who are slow and indifferent and lazy probably don't get penalized in any way, this being a government bureaucracy. An immigration lawyer I spoke to, who used to work for the UKBA himself, confirmed that, and said the place was a bureaucratic nightmare. He can't get any straight answers out of them either.
| Leekybob wrote: | The worrying thing is there's still plenty of people on that list that are still 'waiting' from much earlier on in the year, like February, March etc... unless of course they just didn't return here to give an update on their status! (I'm alright Jack!)
Again, looking at the list from those that have updated their status as approved, there is just no consistency in how long it takes! |

Why don't you call them? Again this thread is for ILR processing time and despite you harping on about the same question no one has answered you properly...maybe it would best to post in another thread.... |

I have just received a response from the UKBA in response to my letter enquiring about processing times for SET (M) applications received in the first week of June.
The letter, which is dated the 25th of September, states that 509 SET(M) applications were received in the week of June 4th, and 44 of those have been decided. It then goes on to say that June applicants can expect to receive a decision within 53 calendar days. Those two statements blatantly contradict each other: 53 calendar days from the 4th of June brings us to the 27th of July. So clearly, if only 44 applications have been decided by the 25th of September, the decision times are much, much longer. How can the UKBA not recognize the ridiculousness of making those two statements in the same letter?
I am afraid that all those of us who applied in June are in for a very long wait. But as though that weren't bad enough, why do they tell us such obvious untruths about their processing times? |

Guys, I applied under Set(o) JR on 13th march.. & after 6 months of no news on 14th September they asked me for more paperwork (a few bank statements in original that I had an Internet printout off) . Sent it off last week on Friday 21st September and it got approved of 24th.
Today I received the passports & paperwork back (Royal Mail) and awaiting the BRP today as I wasn't at home when they (DX) tried to deliver yesterday.
I am told that the average waiting time is an avg of 22-27 weeks, it's hard and stressful whilst your waiting but more often than not it works out.
Cheers

| Congrats to all of you who received the pp and biometrics. Now you all can sigh a breathe of relief. For all of us waiting, it is killing us. Sometimes it makes me wonder if there is something wrong with the application. 15 weeks now. |

This is remarkable -- several people on this forum have mentioned that SET(O) applications seem to take longer than SET(M) ones, yet they have already processed almost 50% of the SET(O) applications from the week of the 11th of June, whereas, according to the letter I recieved from the UKBA today (see my previous post), they have handed down decisions on only about 8-9% of the SET(M) applications they received during the week of June 4th!!

My husband received a letter from a senior case worker today, stating that he had agreed to expediate my husbands application. I'm not quite sure if this was because my mp wrote to ukba in August, or whether it was because I wrote a lengthy email on Monday stating my concerns over the lengthy wait...(29 weeks).
The letter stated, I have agreed to expediate your application at your request. Your application will be sent to a case team, where a caseworker will process your application. I cannot give you a timescale as to how long it will take o process, however you can hope to hear from us in the very near future.
So something worked, I wonder it was my email?
Let's hope we get good news soon |

Hi sahdi, which email address did you send the mail to and when did you send it? What reason did you state in the email for requesting an expedite action on the application?
Thank you in advance |
