| SET(M) applications seem to be moving, even the one's that were posted in April. It would appear that caseworkers dealing with SET(O)'s are asleep. Rather frustrating. |

ILR issue date 30/07/2012 and valid for 10 years. |
If one does not naturalise by then you must get the card renewed like a passport. Does not mean you pay the ILR fee again. |
congratulation buddy on your ILR.I am also confuse. Is that mean ILR is not given for lifetime? but only 10 years?
and may i also know, do they issue the 10 years on yr passport and card, or on separate document?
thanks |

Hi guys, its now three weeks since UKBA sent me that dreaded decision together with my passport. Since then I have contacted my MP and a solicitor.
My MP's Caseworker emailed UKBA and they decided to review my application; that was two weeks ago.
Today I got a letter from UKBA Liverpool informing me that my application was reconsidered and I am to be granted ILR. I need to send my Passport to complete the application. An envelope was enclosed addressed to Liverpool, ironically to the same guy that had earlier refused my application.
Anyway I am rather relieved and thank God. This has been a very stressful time for me and my family.
I panicked and paid a Solicitor £360.00 when my MP would have been enough.
I will go to my Solicitor on Monday and ask for a refund since it was just an email from my MP that solved this issue.
I thank everyone here for all the support and guidance. _________________ Always optimistic |

| Well done Jon336. Now sue the b@$t@rds. I think you should request a letter of apology when sending your passport, you have got them by the b@lls this time, use it. |

Thanks jbm and NOG; I doubt they even care even if I sue them. They will just waste our money and maybe give the incompetent officer a bonus!!
jbm my timeline is as follows;
Application sent 27th Feb 2012
Acknowledgement 29th Feb 2012
Money taken around 2nd March-paid by check
Docs sent were 2xPassports, PPs, That Citizenship Certificate, Cover Letter, BRP.
Refusal recieved on 20th July 2012.
Contacted MP on 26th July 2012.
UKBA agree to Review decision on 27th July ( Message recieved through MP)
I also contacted a Ballister and a Solicitor during this period. All their advice was the same but their rates were very different. Ballister asked for £750 and the Solicitor £360. Paid Solicitor but he was waiting response from MP. So now I think he will need to make a partial refund
Letter to send passport for ILR recieved 10th August 2012.
About two weeks since MP contacte them.
An envelope has been sent to post the PP to Liverpool to the same guy who made the Refuasl letter. Hope this will mark the end of this unpleasant episode.
My advice to all prospective applicants is that UKBA case workers are not as knowledgeable as we may think. Having gone through this experience my confidence and trust in them has really been hit. Do not trust them to make a rational decision. Quote and make in bold all the reasons why you think you qualify for ILR together with the corresponding guidance and immigration rules; then you will not have to go through these three weeks from hell. I am gratefull to you all here who have given me moral and legal support and I will also spend as much time trying to comfort those who are going through hard times here on the board.
Good Luck _________________ Always optimistic |

I am not sure whether I fully understand your question but if you mean to ask whether UKBA has a record of your previous applications/extensions then, Yes, they do. Whether they review the documents again is speculation, they may or may not "review" the old paperwork. You can request your SAR file from UKBA to check on the information they hold for you. |

The biometric card is valid for 10 years. It does not mean you have to "apply" for ILR again. ILR's are not issued as a vignette on the passport anymore. |

Hi NOG,
Thank you very much for your response. You answered what I was asking for. I would appreciate if you could elaborate a bit how to request for SAR file.
Thank you very much for your time.

I would simply ask for ALL information including landing cards, caseworker notes they hold for an individual. |
